About to buy some webhosting. Before I buy any last suggestions would be helpful....

Hey all.....
Im about to buy some web hosting on Host Gator and was wondering if you think I should go with Shared SSL or Dedicated SSL & IP. I am not sure what the real difference is. I have about 10 small sites I want to host.

Let me know what the best option for me is?

Also if someone is an Affiliate with Host Gator and wants to make a sale send me your affiliate link. (First come)

Thank You.

If you don't have your own shopping cart you don't need your own ssl certificate. The dedicated IP is good if you have a content site. If you have any questions ask away.

I also sent you a pm.

I suppose there is no serious difference. I use a shared ssl and have never encountered any problems with Hostgator. Their service is pretty phenomenal.

bluehost.com has the best customer service hands down. Anytime I need help, they are GREAT. Plus, their prices are low, they allow unlimited domains on ONE account. It's a great place to get started... or stay... I've been with them for years.

    Jesse,

I wouldn't be doing right by Allen if I didn't mention that he owns a hosting company - Host4Profit. Or he used to.

Btw everybody and out of respect for Allen ...

I do remember a time when members weren't allowed to post other hosting companies in this forum - and it wasn't that long ago!

Well lol, they could post them, but they would get deleted as quickly as they were posted.

Allen changed that rule a long time ago, like 2 years ago.

Have a look at justhost - when you get to the order page use the coupon code "50off" and you'll pay only $42 for a full year. Hard to beat that price.

I use them and am fully satisfied.

Sure, here's a coupon to use:
HostGator coupon code - Web Hosting Diary

Like the others have said a shared ssl and ip should be fine for blogs.

if your planning on staying around for a while then go with JUSTHOST,if you go for their 5 year option it only costs around £87 for the 5 years.

and the reviews on this forum about them are pretty good

I have sites hosted at hostgator and have had very little issues. When I did have an issue, I just went to the online chat that they have on their website and they took care of it right away.

I both recommend Bluehost and Hostgator as they provide efficient support with web hosting - and you shouldn't worry of shared SSL. Just go through what you think will work and we're always here to support.

HostGator continues to be the best...stick with them.

We've tried several others, and we came back to HostGator....you don't need dedicated IP or SSL....but I would recommend the reseller account as it is extremely convenient if you plan to run multiple sites. (gives you WHM access).

I also have BlueHost and I can recommend them, never had bad experiences with them. I think that HostGator and Bluehost are almost the same, but Bluehost is cheaper-I purchased an unlimited 2 years hosting plan for only arpund $90.

I personally go with ATS, they have unlimited hosting on everything as well as an autoresponder for $20 a month. If your into the whole webinar thing they also have those for an extra $5 a month. Your first domain cost $5 for life and they offer training classes every week also. The affiliate system on it is pretty good as well. Get three referalls and your hosting and auto responder service is free.

As for the auto responder, They don't charge for larger lists. It's $20, every month for your auto responder and hosting.

Yeah, I agree. Hostgator support is phenomenal. It makes all the
difference when you're learning about webmastering.

Note - The newer Cpanel versions HG uses hide the .htaccess file
so you cannot find it from within your control panel. I suppose
this is a form of idiot-proofing. You can get around this issue
by opening and editing .htaccess within Filezilla.

It is well worth it to spend a few more dollars and get your own virtual server. You won't get throttled by others sharing your cpu and bandwidth. It is just like having a dedicated host but it costs much less. It is also much more secure since you are the only one on the machine. A few days back, someone posted about their wordpress getting hacked. This was because of permissions on the files allowing the other users on the host to mess with the files. With a virtual server, this will not happen. I have had virtual servers with Rimuhosting.com for over 10 years and they are top-notch. They will work on your stuff for free when you have any issues and they are VERY responsive. They start around $20/mo and that is a small price for what you get.
