Picked Up 10 URLs w/Natural Traffic, Where's the Best Place to Park Free For Cash

Hello Warriors,

I recently purchased about 10 domains that have the potential for varying amounts of type-in traffic...

Where's the best Free Cash Parking Service... or should I create a quick ad sense page for each... if so, any resource info would be appreciated (I haven't done one yet).

Thanks
Nick

godaddy? major registers and hosting companies all have parking service... if you have your own hosting... why not provide some light content and do it yourself?. also plug in some auto blogging or content syndicate.. better yet.. set up a forum and see it grow..

      Thanks Digio,

I can't bring myself to pay Go Daddy for that service... The auto blogging sounds good... Being a newbie I first must figure out how to load a template or the light content would be the way to go...

That's why I'd just like to park them for now, but was wondering about options that would only require a quick URL redirect..

      Thanks

I really like Parked.com. You can actually pick a theme that matches your domain niche. And they pay like clockwork at the end of the month via PayPal.

Thanks Alan... I think I'll try that, I've heard of parked.com...

Also I checked out your report link below... good use of video on the sales page... Let me ask you - Is there a program that allows that picture in picture type screen capture? I had an idea that would work well with that...

          Thanks

I use Screenflow for my screencasts (it's for Mac computers). It's like Camtasia but better.

I use them for all of my parked sites. No complaints. Payout isn't great but who cares better than collecting dust. None of mine get much traffic if any so I can't give you a good estimate on how well they pay.

What about Sedo? Did you look at that? You can even change templates, pick keywords and if you like have them for sale at the same time.

Parked.com has provided me with some nice supplemental income on some unused domains over the years, and they weren't even good domains. Highly recommend them, they have an excellent interface and fast customer service.

I own many thousands of domains....and it really depends on many factors.

Your best bet is to test a few services for a minimum of 30 days each (it takes a while to optimize the landers).

Start with Sedo - The world's leading domain marketplace-Sedo.com), then Parked.com - What is Parked.com, and finally NDX Market - NameDrive.com - does best with international traffic.

Parked.com is probably the best. They are honest, have good support and pay twice a month like clockwork. Other good options would be Fabulous.com, Bodis.com and WhyPark.com (owned by Parked.com)

Stay far away from Bodis - major problems in the past and very questionable.

How much can you expected from parking a domain? Like $1 per day per good domain?

This is interesting and I'd like to look into it.

Same goes here for me too fellas. If i get it right...is this the way it works?
You buy a .com domain with like 100,000 searches from the google keyword tool.
And set up a parking domain for it, right?
But how are you so sure that they'll type in .com as their extension for that particular keyword rich domain since parked domains do not appear in the search engine listings?

Hope I made myself clear?

A certain number of people who are looking for juggling torches will type in jugglingtorches.com before they ever type the phrase into a search engine -- with a good type-in name you almost don't even care about search engines.

I have 8 misspellings of creditbureau.com and for almost the last 8 years I've made $100 a month from Adsense ads. I don't think ANY of the traffic comes from the search engines -- just people looking for a credit bureau and not knowing how to spell it. =

I keep thinking I should create a product for that site, but it's "free money" and since I don't care about that niche I'll just keep cashing the checks for now.

        Jay Jennings

PS - I know, that's a piddly amount compared to what some type-in names do -- but that's my example.

Hey Jay, it's totally amazing how most IMers dismiss the ability of misspellings to be decently profitable. I know of at least 3 misspelled domains that makes no less than 5 figures a month (each) without even blinking.

All one has to do is search.

And as Jesus said "Search and you will find". Amen!

Instead of just parking it I'd recommend putting something together as an incentive to try and get them on a mailing list.

Many moons ago I had a name that got 300+ type-ins per day -- but that was before I knew anything about list-building so I just sent the traffic somewhere via an affiliate link. I made nice money, but that was 9000+ people per month (month after month after month) that I could have been building a list with.

    Just something to think about.

Wow Jay that's a valuable lesson learned... Thanks for sharing... I guess we're all newbies at one point, as a newbie myself I'm trying to limit the situations that will create a loss or missed opportunity... (btw I checked out your links and your article marketing stuff is really great info).

With my limited knowledge of IM, I just know enough to realize I could be doing something quick, easy and clever to generate $$ from these domains but I just don't know the best options...

If I had more site building ability I think putting some quick content up and applying adsense through out the page may do the job... only one quick page for now (if it wasn't a huge project)...

If there's any other ideas you've heard of or you know folks are using... please let us know...

I'm honored to have some proverbial "Old Timers" (with all due respect) contribute to this post...

      Thanks Warriors

I think Sedo like other warriors here are saying is good for parking but the amount you could earn is not that much for few domains. Why don't you give some time adding few contents and add more traffic to it then put adsense or clickbank product? I've tried parking before for more than 200 domains but I'm not fully satisfied.

When you have good PR, traffic and content..I think your domains will value more in the long run.

That is true I make more money from putting up a Wordpress site displaying eBay and/or Amazon ads than those domains just parked. But until I get around to them it's better than just leaving the GoDaddy default parked page up. I try not register domains willy-nilly but it's like an addiction.

It's amazing how fast you could rack up the number of names... for a newbie it's one of the quickest ways to feel like you've done something (from personal experience).

As with everything else that doesn't directly generate revenue... It could get distracting.

Parking domains typically doesn't pay out as much as a developed site, but there are many cases where it actually does - no way to know without testing. I have unusual names parked that make $15-30/day regularly, I built them out, and after 3-4 months I was only at half of that, so back to parking them. Others had high traffic and low rev, so those were built out.

I use parking initially for all domains to see amount and source of traffic, revs, clicks, and misc info so that if I choose to set up a site I have an idea of what to put on it.

In the days of domain tasting (register a domain, park for 4 days, and then get a refund if no rev) it was easy to register thousands of domains daily. Now that the refund loophole is gone you have to be very careful what domains you register.

The best parking domains are those with pre-existing links, traffic, and PR. Just keep in mind that once you park a domain for too long the Google PR will drop and eventually go away (Google knows parking - they now even do it themselves).

I suggest anyone registering new domains should at least test them with a blog for at least 60 days and DO NOT add advertising to them until the major search engines crawl them several times.

      Thanks Rob,

That's great info.. I thought getting some basic analytics (clicks, traffic etc) would help while I can't work on them immediately...

Which service do you find gives you the best analytics on your parked sites?

Sedo and Parked have great stat info, but since I'm part of Sedo Pro I get extras. Sedo Pro - they have to offer it to you or you need many domains.

Honestly - you can't go wrong with either for stats.

In my limited experience with parking I have found that if you have a domain that is getting traffic while you do nothing with it ... you will do better financially if you develop it .

But in the case of you folks with 1000s of domains I can see why parking is a better option
