Using Tell A Friend To Leverage Visitors

Hi all,

I have been using the tell a friend button on all my sites but just with the vague hope that someone will use it once in a while.

My question is: how can I make visitors suggest my site to a specific number of people (lets say 10) using Tell A Friend before being able to download the free eBook I will give them as a reward for doing so ??

    You can't make people do anything.

    People will NOT do something just because you hope they will, there has to be something in it for them.

    So what's in it for them?

    We tested a simple "Tell a friend" box at the bottom of each blog entry for the Internet Business Box system. It failed miserably.

    Out of 10,000 visitors, zero use it.

    Even worse, just having it on the site decreased profitability dramatically. The conversion rate for products being sold dropped from 0.85% to 0.23%.

    Tell a friend is a chapter written in the history of the Internet, not something to be used today.
