I think that a Newbie should start with affiliate marketing first, learn the steps from those who know, and then move one from their. that is how I started. in fact I still do affiliate marketing, and I love it..

Remember: If its meant to be, then its up to me!

Affiliate marketing, selling other peoples products should be the first step, the newbie is dealing with other peoples sales pages, without creating their own

  Who is it that is pushing anybody into the make money online arena? I have seen person after person, time and time again, state that newbies should avoid this niche until they have at least honed their skills and made some money in unrelated niches.

That was not the question. The question was don't we think we should push newbies away from the "make money online' niche and into another type of marketing niche. Not which model to pursue.

There are a lot of affiliate programs in many other niches beside the make money online niche.

The newbies choose the niche, we don't force them into Internet Marketing. Most marketers won't make money without selling to newbies. It's kind of hard to sell a IM product to someone who believes they know everything about it.

Appearently, thousands of them.

For some reason a lot of folks think that is the only niche that makes money on the internet. (I'm not kidding).

They come from a place of no experience, and the only influence they are exposed to is the MMO niche. So they think they need to jump into that niche.

They couldn't be more wrong...

One of the first MMO books I got, encouraged me to promote the product itself.

I did put up a one page web 2.0 property on it at the time. Without a clue what I was doing, I did sell one unit (months later) with a backend upsell.

So, I guess I would fall into that category.

But I know better now, and I don't preach that is what they should sell.

I just put up a review page of sorts (jeeze, just thinking about it if I knew then what I know now I probably could have made a big killing)

Similar story here.

Promoting random products as an affiliate was too disorganized for me though, so I set up my own MMO blog with the intention of reviewing products. I went about promoting it through all the "wrong" ways and still made money.

Once I joined the Warrior Forum, though, I quietly shied away from it, because I realized just how much of a noob I was then >

I'm resurrecting it now, though, because I've not only made more money, but know a LOT more now than I did then.

(Had I managed my time well, I could've made more money by expanding into other niches. Damn. Better late than never, I guess.)

So, you want to sell me another way to easily make "X" dollars in "X" days? ROFL too funny! IM success requires hard work and lots of time. Most newbies do not survive the steep learning curve. Anyone who says otherwise is probably selling you a fantasy.

I think that a lot of the time they are lured by these promises of "get rich overnight" IM products and the newer marketers don't realize that you need a lot more experience than just buying this product and becoming rich overnight - usually that person who made a million overnight is someone who has been in the industry for years. Instead of steering newbies away from the IM niche I think it would be better to educate them on the work and learning involved in having a successful IM career.

I always thought that so many people started off with the MMO niche because it is something they are keenly interested in.

You know how it is when you first "discover" that you might be able to make money online - you eat, breath and sleep MMO stuff, so it might seem like a good niche to try to make money at (until you realize you don't know anything about it!)

These answers are exactly what I hoped for. I knew you Warriors would be able to articulate that IM is much more than the "Make Money Online" niche.
There is much money to be made online in many many areas.
IM is work, but its like they used to say in network marketing...hard work now pays escalating dividends in the future.

The ulterior (I spell so badly) motive was that someone may find that spark of hope again when they feel the whole internet is bent on destroying them. The thing that is most sad is a person who has lost their dream.

So thanks fellow warriors you done good...
