getting paid by Clickbank...how long do you have to wait???

Hi all,

I'm having a bit of strife with Clickbank and I'm trying to see if anyone eles is in a similar quandary. As it stands, I have a small site and I'm promoting (as an affiliate) a product where I've made 6 sales over the last month and a half. Nothing spectacular I know, but that's not why I'm writing this. As it stands, 5 of the six people have paid via paypal, yet CB states that they will not release any money from an account until :

a) 5 different CC#s are used to purchase products and
b) two different methods are used (ie Mastercard, Visa, PayPal, etc)

however, paying by PP does not count towards the 5 CC#s...WTF ?!?!?!?!?

By this logic, if I had a thousand sales and everyone paid via PP, would that mean that I would never get paid the commissions I'm owed. I know I would rather pay via PP as it is safer, but isn't PP attached to your CC# anyway?

As it stands, does this mean that I still have to wait and HOPE (!!!!)that 4 more people will pay via CC (even though PP is safer and more convenient!) so I can get paid? I've got over $200 waiting, but at this rate I'll never actually get it. Plus, if my account goes dormant CB will start taking money away from the account, all because people would rather pay by PP.

One of the "solutions" put to me from CB was to "disable the buyers ability to use PayPal"...well duh !! but can you explain how I could do this if I am the bloody AFFILIATE ??????(even though my original enquiry stated that I was an affiliate). Is it me or are they bloody idiots at CB???

Has anyone else been in this situation?

You have to wait for more sales paid in CC; that' s their policy and you have to abide by it as you promised when you signed the TOS.

Your account will only be dormant if you have no sales; not in your case.

Once you passed the qualification for a check, you will have to wait for several weeks before it arrives in your mailbox.

Ater that, you have to wait another more weeks for the check to clear; depending on your bank.

In my case in Philippines, it takes 4 weeks for the check to arrive after it is sent; and another 24 days for my bank to clear a US check.

    Good luck

So then even if I make hundreds of sales, if everyone pays by PayPal, I'd never get the commissions for it...correct?

Want to see what kind of idiots they are?

Here's my original question. Note the amount of information I already know :

      Hello,

I am enquiring about how I am going to get paid the money i am owed. From checking my account, I have a total of 6 sales of the same product. Of these sales, 5 are from using PayPal and only 1 is of Visa. Now from your help page, I am led to believe that I will not be paid until at least 5 different credit card numbers are registered, and 2 different cards. Now what is puzzling me is why PayPal doesn't count towards the 5 different CC #'s ? Does this mean that I have to wait for at least 4 more sales with people using credit cards only? I can't understand why PayPal doesn't count because it is viewed as the safest way to pay (ie CC# isn't shown) and obviously most people want to pay using that method. For all I know, the people who purchased using PayPal all have different credit card types that PayPal debits anyway.

Doesn't it seem a bit unfair? If this is true, if I had a thousand sales but all by PayPal, does this mean I STILL wouldn't get paid? What happens if my account goes dormant? I would have made all that money only to lose the money for account keeping fees.

Can you please clarify how/when I'll get paid?

      thank you

      Doug

      Now here's their reply :

      Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. You have not been issued a check because your account has not yet met our "Customer Distribution Requirement", which states that ClickBank accounts cannot be used for the sole purpose of collecting rebates or otherwise extending credit to yourself or others. In compliance with US law, ClickBank will withhold payment of any account balance until the following criteria is met: * Sales made with 5 or more different credit card numbers and * Sales made with two different payment methods (either Visa, MasterCard, or PayPal). Note: PayPal purchases do not count toward the minimum 5 different credit card numbers.

This requirement is in place to help prevent affiliates from abusing the ClickBank Affiliate Program by using their accounts for the sole purpose of collecting rebates and/or discounts on their own ClickBank purchases.

Please note that once you have met the Customer Distribution Requirement, the full balance from your account will be paid on the next check issuing date. Also, please keep in mind that you only need to meet the Customer Distribution Requirement one time per account (not per check).

If you wish to meet the Customer Distribution Requirement as quickly as possible, you may wish to disable your customer's ability to pay via PayPal until the CDR has been met. This will ensure that all sales will have to be made via a Credit Card and move your account more quickly toward the minimum requirement.

You may review our accounting policies by following the link below:

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

      Kind regards,

      ClickBank Accounting

What question didn't they answer? You asked them to clarify how/when you'll get paid, and they did just that. I understand your frustration, but it was all spelled out in their TOS.

Once you get a few more sales, you'll get your first check, and then you'll never have to worry about it again.

Ok here's a question for you (as I stated in my original question to CB that was NOT answered if you read their reply)

If I made a hundred more sales, but all customers paid via paypal, would I ever get the commission? What if I made a thousand sales but everyone paid via PayPal ? What if I made ten thousand sales, but all with PayPal? (can you see my point now?)

Oh sure they answered my question, but their answer was merely a rehash of WHAT I ALREADY WROTE IN THE ORIGINAL QUESTION !

The point is, CB has it set up where in theory you can be making dozens of sales but they would never have to pay out. What concerns me is simply that PayPal would be the preferred method of a lot of people as it is the safest method, yet this would be working to the disadvantage of affiliates.

Ahhh bugger it...I give up with CB. There are much better things to worry about.

I've checked my last 100 transactions.

Only 17 were paid with Paypal

Don't mind me but that seems a bit funny. They should have rehashed it in a different way?

On the practical side, I just made a few affiliate sales with a product that uses a Rapid Action Profits script and it is really nice. The money goes straight into your paypal at the time of purchase. It doesn't stay parked at the vendor's at all.

No minimum payout, no requirements at all except the sale. It's a really nice feeling and you might want to look at those affiliate programs if avoiding waiting is really important.

You must have a decent site with traffic already so sooner or later you might be able to get results you want. Just a bit of tweaking here or there, but personally I expect those things to take a bit of time.

            best wishes, lloyd

I'm in the same boat as you as I have 6 sales on CB but only 2 are credit cards. I figure if I just keep plugging away and setting up my new sites sooner or later 3 more people are going to pay with a credit card. Have you considered setting up another website with a different product from CB? Maybe you will be luckier getting credit card payments in a different niche?

The way that I look at when I do finally get that check it will be a pretty nice check as it's already close to $200.

Oh well, I think I'm going to try getting some friends or relatives (or maybe some forum members could help me out here?) to purchase a really cheap product from them (via my affiliate account) and just refund the money right away. The cheapest I've found so far is $7....does anyone know of anything cheaper, or is that about the best I could expect?

just read the Customer Distribution Requirement and you will understand..any way just continue promoting clickbank products then after you got more sales most likely you will be paid once you reach the requirement. No worries clickbank do pay.

Ummm...if you read my original post, you'll see that I already knew what the CDR is about, nor was I worried about whether CB would pay or not...my question/point was simply pointing out that it is rather unfair to the affiliate if everyone pays via paypal, as according the CB's CDR, the affiliate would NEVER get paid !

In my experience with four ClickBank accounts, as both a vendor and an affiliate, the ratio of PayPal to Credit card sales is about 50:50. So hang in there and keep making sales and you will soon get there.

Or, if you are anxious about it, do as suggested - there is a cheap chocolate cake recipe you could get a affiliate link for.

As to their reply to you, I'm not really sure what else you expected as you were not so much asking a question as telling them their own TOS.

...and while you're waiting for the check from your closed account - do a search on Google for "powered by Rapid Action Profits" (include the quotes) to find products that use the instant commissions model.

Multiple marketplaces for RAP-driven products are on the way - but the stats (IMHO) at CB are useless. A good affiliate will promote a product based on everything EXCEPT how others have done with it (In fact, new products will have no stats, will they?).

Base your decision on whether to promote a particular product based on
      1. your estimation of the value of the product to your list
      2. the sales copy on the site
      3. the price (and it's applicability to your list)
      4. the competition (or lack thereof)
      5. the uniqueness of the product
      6. ...
I'm sure that you can come up with additional criteria, if you give it a little thought.
