Okay.. One more question (for now)

I've found an available .com.

Question #2: it's two words. Would you use it with "the" in the domain, or without. (It kinda seems to flow better with "the" in front."=)

Thanks again, guys & gals.

Pete

In most cases, the word "the" in front of a domain is a bad idea unless it specifically is needed. For example: TheOne.com. TheBeatles.com (the complete actual name of the band). If you really want the domain with "the", if possible, register both variations, with and without the "the".

    Hello Pete

Why not just get them both and direct all traffic to the 'main' one that you want to use.

There's no point in losing visitors for the sake of a few dollars.

People DO make these sort of mistakes. The second most popular search term for my main product is a common mis-spelling of it!

    Cheers,

    Neil

Edit: I agree with Gene. You should use one of them to build your brand and use it in all correspondence, advertising etc. Just use the others catch the traffic that you would otherwise have missed.

    Hey Pete,

I personally don't think that it is a bad idea to go with the word "the" in the domain name.

As long as you have a good domain name, it is OK.

    Here is an example:

If you are selling work at home opportunities it is a good idea to have "Work at home" in the domain name. It does not make a difference if you have "THE" in it.

So having "The" in your domain name is totally OK.

There are many subtleties in domain names that can cause your website to hemmorage traffic. These subtleties can make a huge difference in the profitability of a website. Using the word "the" at the beginning of your domain is one of these traffic leaks. The owner of the domain that doesn't use the word "the" will receive a large percentage of your traffic.
