A Simple Fourm Marketing Tip...

Ok this is so simple it may seem kind of stupid :p but I'll say it anyway...

Your thread will get looked at a lot more if there is a reply in it , some times a thread with no replies can just disappear of the page but if there is a reply in it (From a different person), people feel the urge to come drop there 2 cents in.

I told you, simple it might be helpful, it might not, I just thought I would share it something simple which I realized .

        Forum problems today, so I don't even see Matt's post any more.

        However, he has a point. He was actually adding to your tip. Specifically -- if you want to get those replies that will get eyeballs to your forum post, you need to post messages that compel people to jump into the discussion.

        That means asking a question, asking for opinions, posting something that naturally provokes discussion, etc. Engage people. Open the door so that people reply... and they will.

          Ah, I guess I took it the wrong way Sorry Matt. I agree with that completely but some times posts do just slip down the page and thats where my mini tip would come in.

    It is simple yes, but the thing to be thinking about is what kind of things get a lot of replies (and views) exactly. Just by looking at what topics are hitting thousands of views, you can find out what people are interested in..

    I've enjoyed pretty significant success with forum marketing
    in a forum that has nothing to do with IM.

    My strategy was to comment in threads where questions were
    asked about the topic I have expertise in. I rarely started a thread
    of my own. When I did it had nothing to do with my product or
    service... just general interest stuff.

    Before long I came to be know as the 'go to' guy on that forum
    for anyone asking questions about that subject. People would
    actually post replies telling the questioner to seek me out because
    I was the absolute expert on the forum.

    That's how you do forum marketing effectively... keep helping
    others... they will promote you.

    butters, you might have just made me a thous... no no, a MILLION DOLLARS! Yeah! I'm gonna hire me a bunch of cheap outsourcers to join up and post replies to threads I start. $.000005 per reply. I figure at 10,000 posts per day, I'll corner the WF market in about 3 days. Sorry, suckers! Eat my cyberdust.
