Creating an article site of my own. Need advice.

Hi,
I am thinking of creating an article site of my own, but am not sure if I should use an article directory script
because of the technical aspects of handling the script.

Today, I came across this site -- Post Your Own Articles - and build your online authority and liked the idea a lot.
could anyone tell me how to create something like postyourown.com.

does it use a special script?

or is it better to use an article directory script.

Looking forward to your advice.

    There are several php scripts out there to do it. I can't post links yet but do a search for wordpress article directory plugin. Article directories are a long term proposition if you want to fill it with decent content.

    It says right at the bottem of the page:

    Post Your Own Articles is powered by WordPress using the Plainscape theme.

    I think that is how they, created the template for the site.

      You do that with wordpress by using an article directory plug in which you can find in a search for plugins from your dashboard. I've done that myself using a mixture of an article directory plug in, a theme I liked better than went with the plug in and further plug ins for a login page. It sound complicated but it wasn't, you can see the results in the second link in my signature. I used to run an article dashboard script on that domain and have found that the method I am using now is better in every way. If you've got any questions pm me but I won't be around much this weekend.

    Faraz,

    The way PostUrOwn is setup is simple.

    Authors register as a WordPress user as a 'subscriber'. Then, the owner of the site makes them a contributor or author. This is controlled inside WordPress by changing their user level.

    You can find more about user levels here:

    As a author, they can make a new POST to the blog (which is their article) but it is not published automatically. It goes into review where the owner will go through it and then publish it. Once that happens, the article shows up on the blog.

    Pretty simple way to run an article directory. All you need is WordPress and a good template.

    Ah,Thanks Sagar.

    Do you think I could also setup a membership site for this, so that the only one's who can post articles there
    are the ones who have paid for the membership.
    I mean, I want to put up a paid article directory with this so that the ones who pay can only post there.
    can this be done?
