Is selling on Ebay Profitable?

Have any ever had success selling on ebay? I want to try my hand in
selling cds and dvds but want to learn more.

I was this rather pricey membership site named skyhighauctions.com (its
$267.00) but wantto know if anyone know a good pdf, or membership
that teaches how to sale on ebay at a cheaper price.

And is it worth selling pc repair cds and dvds on ebay in the first place?

Thanks for any advice on this.

Depends what you sell, how much it is and how you market it.

Would you buy a CD of ebay from yourself?

What does work is selling things at break even or a loss and adding them to your list. It really depends on your pain threshold and your long term goals.

Selling on ebay can definitely be profitable, I know because I have done it for the past couple years or so and have made some descent extra income. I'm not sure about pc repair cds, but I wrote a book that teaches people how and where to get profitable items to sell on ebay and I use to sell it for 9.99 per copy on ebay. These days I just give it away as a viral ebook. Try going to storage locker auctions and try using craigslist to get proitable items to sell. You can find some really good items this way. Hope this helps!

I agree here. A good strategy is to make money on the backend, be it an opt in, an upsell product etc.

Also, if you are sellign things at a cheap break even price you will likely get a lot of sales meaning you are building your account history up. This is very important when selling in the future..people really look at quantity of sales from the seller when they are determining who to buy from

You have to sell a lot of CDs and DVDs to make a living on eBay.

I used to make really good money selling (dropshipping) sports memorabilia. And then started helping others to sell their vehicles. I made so much doing that, that I was able to start my own auto dealership.

Anyway...think about the profit you'll make and whether or not it's worth all the packing and trips to the post office.

Depends what you sell. Ebooks used to be the best seller but it is hard work these days.

It is possible to sell CD's on Ebay and make good money. I know because I have done it. These were music CD's and I once wrote an ebook telling how I did it. Pmail me if you want a (FREE) copy.

eBay is saturated unless you find something that is sort of unique. Dropshipping has become less profitable but if you buy in wholesale from a good distributor you can get decent amount of profit.

Ebay is still VERY VERY profitable, and arguably one of the fastest ways to get traffic.

You just have to know what to sell!!!

It is also under-rated as a testing tool....

    As usual just my $0.02

eBay is free? What a mug I must have been to keep paying them all those listing and final value fees

To the OP, unless you have access to a cheap and reliable source of in-demand items, I'd go for creating or commissioning your own exclusive products - or concentrate on a very specialist area within a larger niche.

          Hi FaJeeb,

I was wondering if you could recommend a good course/guide to teach a beginner how to develop a fulltime ebay biz?
I am fully aware it will take hard work & lots of time. But mighty oaks grow from tiny acorns......

RexM - there's 5 or 6 people who posted on this thread who have free eBay tips and techniques in their sig line.

These are Warriors who bothered to respond to the OP's post and most likely have a ton more experience buying/selling on eBay than you do, right?

Surely there is enough nuggets of gold just in these guys/gals complimentary eBay ebooks to get all the info you need to answer your question.

Seriously, read the entire thread and take up some of the free eBay education offers.

By this time next week you could be sitting on your yacht in the French Riveria thx to eBay.

            I'm just sayin...

I sold ebooks on ebay for a while but ended up being a busy fool. Not much profit, lots of work. You need to work cleverly rather than hard. Or better, both! I'm talking to drop shippers at the moment and looking to make upwards of $20 per item. I think this is better. Time will tell if it works.

    Hi guys

i made my first profit online through eBay and must admit i still have a soft spot for it. It is great for using if you have something unique to sell but if you are just selling everyday dvds you will have a lot of powersellers to compete with.

However if you were selling dvds that were hard to get hold of or are self help kind you will be on to a goldmine.

You also have to remember that if you are selling tangiable products on ebay that with paypal people can easily force a refund if you dont include tracking. So either add a little bit more to the price or send all orders by recorded delivery otherwise you will end up in the red.

Here is the link to my free ebay ebook:

samantha milner presents the wiggly worm the best way for you to earn money online with ebay and start your own ebay business

I also include my own experiences of selling on there to help you make your mind up.

    kind regards

Ebay can be very profitable however what I would do is to start selling on ebay via dropshipping method then start your own website running in tandem with your ebay sales. This is what I've done and it worked really well.

You use the ebay to create a list of customers when you then invite to use your website (possibly offering a discount).

You should visit www.dropshipforum.co.uk for more specific advise on ebay and dropshipping, there's tons of info there.

I've got loads more advice on dropshipping if you need it.

For a three month period in the beginning of 2006 I was selling 10-15K a month in coins on consignment on eBay and keeping a 25-30% commission with happy and repeat customers. I had a newspaper ad running in my local paper and was getting fairly steady calls and I was having a blast.

They would call, I would talk to them on the phone a develop a rapport, schedule an appointment to view the coins and give them a proposal on spot. Any time I scheduled a meeting I would write a contract and go home with 3 to 5K in coins to sell. I was amazed that people trusted me that much after a phone call & a face to face.

3 months in the phone stopped ringing & I did not know how to get more leads. I tried to struggle on for a month or so afterward but could not afford to keep the ad going. I was crushed & had to go back to a J.O.B.

I have tried to advertise through a blog but the trust issue is a hard one to overcome long distance.

Is the selling on consignment business model still a viable one? I really love coins and enjoyed being in business on my own while it lasted, I got to meet really nice people and build trust with them and would love to continue on in that model if it still works.

If I had it to do over again I would have kept a second job and not lived off the money, but we live and we learn.

I've had some success selling on eBay. Like others said, it depends on what you sell and what your strategy is. You can give eBay a shot for very little cash and see how it works for you. EBay certainly isn't as easy as it used to be, but lots of people are still making very good money on the site.

I have had great success with eBay.

What i did was identify hot markets, then introduce my own uniquely similar product into the market by importing cheap product from China from sources like alibaba.com.

I generated 6 figures doing this.

Stay away from selling stuff like info products on eBay, not very profitable unless your just using it for front end lead generation.

    Hope that helps

    Ebay still works.

I will be giving away my own unique strategy I used to make
a nice little side income. Actually, it's the one I'm kinda sorta
selling in my sig link (I just have to work a little to change it
up, get aweber, change look, etc).

I personally am not in the business anymore because I've
found my way of making money, and I much, much prefer
    selling digital products than physical.

Either way, I couldn't promote my ebay strategy if I still
didn't have a soft spot for the business and a passion to
introduce people to making money with it and hopefully
making money with ebay in their own unique way.
