Traffic Increasing BUT ALEXA Ranking Going Up

I think this is just quite ironic...

My traffic has been going up dramatically and has never been higher, however my Alexa ranking has been going up, meaning that's not good, when Google, the most visited site with the lowest Alexa ranking of #1, my # ranking has been going up, while my traffic has been gone up through the roof.

Either it could be my Webalizer Stats or Alexa messing up at fault...

but if everything is working properly and accurate, then my only conclusion is that there have been more sites created everyday causing this shift...

    Just take a deep breath....relax

If your domain happens to be a long tail or caters to long tail, you'll typically experience greater than average Alexa swings.

In the end it's really about page views, uniques, etc..,, so don't get hung up on Alexa.

3 of the blogs I have been promoting has seen a similar fluctuation in Alexa. My rank has gone up and down the past week and I have been building backlinks and adding articles. I don't really see a problem with it as the blogs have started bringing in daily adsense earnings.

As others have said, forget about Alexa.com.

The only numbers you need to pay attention to are your traffic log numbers, conversion rates, profits.

Do you think folks who are raking in the big bucks are running to Alexa to see their rating? I doubt it. They'd rather run to PayPal or to their bank to look at the bottom line. And that's what you should be doing too.

    Cheers,
    Becky

My blog has had an Alexa ranking that has been going down for several weeks. However the traffic has remained in the same range. The only thing that seems to affect it for me is possibly the constant posting of new articles.

All that matters is the traffic your website is receiving. If you're receiving traffic and making money, why care about a crude traffic ranking that has no significance?

The reason is Alexa decide the ranking based on past 3 month stats, So even if you are getting high traffic in last 1 week or so it won't contribute to alexa rankings. Wait for another week or 2 or 3 week and the roof traffic that you were getting isn't... The result will be in front of you. You will see drastic change in your Alexa. It will go down [i mean imporve] to a great extend.

The same thing was happening to my blog SagarDezign but it is now 300k alexa ranking

Alexa ranking is dependent on how many of your users have alexa toolbar installed on their browsers and might not be directly related to increase/decrease of your traffic. Give more importance to your traffic and conversions.
