Pitfalls Of Product Creation From Expert Interviews

When you create a product from an interview of an expert, are there any pitfalls you should look out for?

i.e. What if the expert expect additional compensation from the sale of the product? Are there contracts that should be signed in advance? Do they own any part of the product or have a say in how it's promoted?

Thanks in advance...

Well, all of those are things you need to discuss with your expert.

I find it easiest to give them rights to the interview (non-exclusive). As for compensation if they have an affiliate program then I give them an opportunity to pitch the product somewhere along the line.

The benefit they often get is someone else is doing the work. Setting up the interview, packaging the product and even promoting it for them. They just have to talk which experts usually have no problem doing.

Just come up with a win win.

I've had some experts provide an hour of solid content and all they wanted was 30 seconds to pitch some event.

Also if you take the time to think about these issues, possible compensation, rights etc and come up with a well thought out proposal then you are far more likely to get the interview.
