Where To Host Product Video?

Hello All,

Quick question. I'm creating a product that will mostly be video. However, I don't want to host them myself, since there will be over 30 and will be quite substantial. My question is this: What is the best solution for hosting these videos? I'd like to be able to embed them just like a Youtube video. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Amazon S3 is my first pick, but you could also host them yourself if you got a beefy enough hosting package with high bandwidth allotment (3000mb or more) and a 100mbps port.

Thanks for your response. S3 looks a bittt over my head, but I'll look into it more. What about Google Video for businesses? Sorry, I can't link to it due to my post count.

      Thanks again.

You could also try the Viddler.com business plan starting at $100/mo, although Amazon S3 would likely be far more cost effective...

Thanks for your reply. My question is that if I use S3, what player do I use to host my video?

          Moniez,

While it is great to learn the best long term solution, don't let that stop you from getting the ball rolling.

Start out using your own hosting if you have to, and work up to the long term solution.

$10 will pay for a lot of video hosting as you work your way up the ladder. Paying for unneeded or unused bandwith capacity when you are starting out is unwise. You can always upgrade as the need arises.

          Just food for thought...

Thanks for the info. My niche is such that I generate about 20 sales a day for another program. Now, assuming I generate this amount of sales with my own program(not taking into consideration affiliate sales), and my videos are about 600mb total, and each customer only watches each video once, (they'll definitely watch more than once, i think, since they're instructional) and I'm doing 600 sales total a month, that's 351 gigs of data (correct me if i'm wrong).

I think that this is a fair estimate if I'm able to convert similarly with my own product.

So, looking at the S3 pricing, that does seem to be the best solution. I'm also looking into google. . and vimeo has a 60 dollar a year plan @24.95 for every 10k views . .

I was looking at Vimeo for commercial video hosting but unfortunately here is what they say on their FAQ:

Businesses may not use Vimeo to externalize their hosting costs. Vimeo (including Vimeo Plus) is not a business service.

Your most long term cost effective solution IMO will be using the Easy Video Player.

          EasyVideoPlayer

This creates your own type of control panel on your site where you can upload videos, choose the player style, a TON of other stuff like making your page redirect somewhere when a video is finished, etc - and best of all, it will pop out a nice embed code for you to drop on your site.

I think they just added functionality so you can use videos hosted on your own site, but the real easy set up is integrating your amazon S3 account. Not as hard as you would think if a silly blonde like myself can muster through it.

You will pay a bit for this player on the front end, but it will serve your site for what ever videos you add for years to come.
