What drove you into internet marketing?

Hi there Everyone!

My name is Tyler, I'm new to the forum so I would like to introduce myself in my first posted thread

I'm wondering why all of you have decided that Internet Marketing is the career choice for you?

Did you just hate your job? Was it all the different ads that sparked an interest? Were you a marketer before the internet hit society? Did you truly believe there was easier ways of making money, than the traditional work 40 hours, get paid, work 40 hours, get paid type of work?.....Here is my reason why I have turned to the Internet and Internet Marketing as my career choice.....

I'm only 21, after highschool in 2006 I was working at a local automotive manufacturing plant as a Part Press Operator, this was a Japanese Managed Corporation...at first the thought of $20 an hour was awesome only being 18 and all. So I did this for two full years, I worked my ass off for the company for about a year and a half, I was training on a press that was difficult to run solo, one day I hit my target (after many weeks of no one hitting target) I was very proud of myself, and did expect some kind of recognition from my management staff...this did not happen...I didn't let it bug me too much, a couple days later I hit target again...again this went unnoticed.

So I decided after this, the hell with it, if my good work goes unnoticed than I figure so will my bad work. I soon found out this wasn't the case, the bad work always got pointed out! But having my personality I couldn't do a good job for a big corporation (that on average made $10 per part, and manufactured over 250,000 parts per month) without incentive or recognition, and to see the top investors gloat in their greed, I was done, fed up and pissed.

I made a quick decision to apply for college and take the program I desired when I first finished High School. This decision was made 3 weeks before school started...So I was broke after tuition, and dazed at my major turn in my life.

This is the time I started looking at different things on the internet, I bought a few ebooks, and programs and failed miserably, this ultimately discouraged me for over a year...

Being in an Automotive Marketing Program, I have learned a little bit about Marketing, and specifically CRM (Customer Retention Marketing). Being in school I spent a lot of time on the internet. After working many part time jobs, mostly in the hospitality industry, I started reading about Internet Marketing, and have learned that this is the new age of business, and it is also a more effective way to make the same kind of money as doctors, and lawyers without having to attend expensive universities for 11 years :S However, I do understand that I must read and research to understand and be successful (something I know a lot of people don't bother to do)

I am still a beginner, and I will always be learning...my experience since high school is what has brought me to the Internet as a source of income, the fact that you can reach millions of consumers while working at home blows my fricken mind!! AND I LOVE IT!!!!!

I would like to hear other stories from members of how you came to be an Internet Marketer!

Also my first project that I have made a commitment to is in my signature, this is my first real attempt at making money online, and I am learning a lot because of this forum, if anyone would like to help me with my venture I am open to all suggestions and opinions, PM me if you would like to talk more personally.

I made a freeware website, just to see if I could put one together. I started getting a lot of traffic and decided to buy a domain name to see where I could take it. At the time, I was just doing odd jobs, cleaning and maintenance to get by. I did not like working for someone else so I decided that I was going to own my own business, regardless of what it was.

I read a post on an old marketing forum, I think it was bizweb2000 about goto.com. I paid for some penny clicks and it really took off. Then I built a greeting card website which also did well. At one time, I was getting over 20,000 visitors to it per day. Those were the days when mailbits was still paying, man that was nice.

So basically, I got into IM because it was there and I did not want to work for someone else. The face has changed from time to time but I stuck it out and still love every day that I don't need to get up and go to *work*

Tim that is a sweet story, I like how you don't get up and go to work everyday, that's also my goal....but investing is a big goal in my life as well, so one day that will be my work

It is an enjoyable thing. To be honest, I still get up early but I like to call it my 10 second commute. Stumble out of bed, let the dog out the door and flip on the computer.

How i got started was through the get paid to process e-mails, times were hard so i thought i would give it a try. Saw the ad in the local penny shopper went to the website paid my $85 through clickbank. Guess what only made $5 back....

Searched the site to see why it was not working and found my savior the free2sell e book package since then it has all been uphill.

I never gave up and have turned that $85 loss in to profit, it's amazing where you find inspiration.

No other job I ever tried made me happy. I never liked working for anyone else or any company. When I was 18, I managed to make a lot of money selling stickers on ebay, so I figured, why not try something else online to make me good money in my twenties? And now I am

It will be interesting to read everyone's stories. Mine in a nutshell..

My family moved out into the middle of nowhere because of my wife's job- I didn't see a future where I was working. Problem is, I really have two choices for a job out here- factory work or farm work. Nothing wrong with either of those for the right person, but I'm not the right person.

Well, my computer illiterate father started buying all these e-books and memberships involving internet marketing but never gets off the ground. God knows why he was trying, he owns a successful business and is in no need of money, but he did. And through a sort of osmosis, I started becoming interested in it.

After a few months, a light sort of turned on and I realized the only thing stopping me from making money on the internet was myself. And, so, I started..

I'm a "self supported" college student--This drove me to become self employed! I'm still a senior in college - and I'm looking forward to not worrying about a job after graduation =)

What pushed me to this point though?

After putting myself through college -- I began to notice something...Most college students will have to work horrible $10 an jobs to pay off about $6,000 every semester.

So...full time school and work PLUS pay $6000 every four months? Ouch!!!

Thats when I needed to find a new answer to my troubles! I began to venture into the world of internet marketing...A few months later, I was able to quit my job at a local cafe. Now Im able to make my old weekly wage in a matter of hours...The real secret is staying motivated...

I had a great motivation for getting started--I knew in my heart that I couldn't fail at this -- I would not doom myself to working a unskillful job for years to come!

A roofing contractor friend of mine wrote a book "How To Repair Your Own Roof" and sold it for $10 in magazine ads. At first people laughed at him because they thought this would cut out his business. But this book started selling, $5,000 one month, then $7,000 and one month he sold $50,000 worth of these books in one month. That was in mail order. Now, he's online (Google "How to Repair Your Own Roof") and it's always in the top 5 listings.

To make a long story shorter than Tye, I got started by writing a short tutorial on MS Office products, (ie How to Design Spreadsheets), put it online as a webpage, and that blossomed into my internet business. Never looked back since.

Now, most of my income is from investments as a private investor. I get up every day to work (usually though at the golf course for you know ... networking).

After I go laid off from my JOB I thought the time was right to venture into something new and exciting. Internet marketing just seem like the right choice because it was the easiest to access without putting up large sums of cash. I been doing it for 5 years now and have never looked back. I'm living the life most people dream of and my time is my own and not given to some un-grateful company.

Hi Samoel, thanks for the input...

That is a major reason why I also have looked into Internet Marketing, it is based on helping others, instead of only helping yourself. I am still learning how to be a leader, and I won't be able to teach until I have a great amount of knowledge, but I'm happy being a student and learning techniques from people who have already succeeded.

          Hey Tye,

Welcome to WF! I got into internet marketing b/c I HATE the idea of making millions for someone else when I get paid less than 1% of that.

That might sound egotistical and in a way, it might be. However, I can relate to your experience in the factory. My mother worked for a car company for 15 years and never moved beyond her "level." She got less than inflation raises and slaved for nothing. Luckily, she works for a place making loads of money and has better benefits.

However, for me, I knew I could build a business online. It really was that simple. I want to help people and I wanted to build a system that could provide for me a life that I always dreamed of.

I graduated college this past May and I can thankfully say I'm doing ok. With my current project, I will be doing VERY well VERY soon

Cheers for taking on the internet! If you want to win, you will! This place has given me ALL that I have learned and I am SO very thankful for the WF. I met my mentor here, got an invite to a conference that changed my business perspective here, and have made many new friends here!

Best Wishes and Feel Free To Contact Me if You Ever Need Help!

Hey there Brad, thanks for the welcoming

I feel you on the point of making someone else millions, I hate working for someone and only getting a small share of the profits. As for graduating college congrats, I can't wait to be finished so I can start working online full time.

I have a friend who is a member on this website if I'm not mistaking. Him and I had done a few business related things together in the past. He called me one day while I was out driving around looking for real estate properties to invest in.

He stressed that he had been doing some research and found that everything we had been doing at that time needed to be moved to the internet because that's where the cash was at. He was out of town but he told me to go to his house and get 2 thick binders from out of his closet. I did and they were Internet Marketing materials. He told me to read them ASAP.

              That's all she wrote...

I started looking into internet marketing years ago when I couldn't decide where in the country I wanted to live, and I wanted a "job" that could move wherever I moved. My wife and I love to travel, but I'm also one of those guys who can't sit still for very long. Internet marketing requires some kind of attention on a regular basis and that works for me. Once I had my first $50K month, I was SOLD.

Working in an office for 17 years and never being able to take time off is what drove me into it. I actually liked the work I did, but couldn't stand the inflexibility. What good is making a decent salary if I can't enjoy it?

Then I made a few crappy Adsense sites, learned about IM and how to program in PHP, and was able to finally escape cubicle hell a couple years later. I still love being able to work from anywhere with an internet connection, which is just about everywhere these days.

I started selling sports cards on Prodigy's BB in high school. I remember checking back like every 3-5 days to see if someone had responded.

Then built ghetto sites for car clubs and personal sites. The sites were made up of like 99% seizure inducing animated gifs too. I think every text I had on the sites was flaming animated fire shit.

Then I chased every trend under the sun in the online business sector for years.

And then finally got (some) focus and this is me today.

I am really inspired to know so many success stories are born from internet marketing (IM). Well, I do not yet have a success story to share but I want to write about how I got involved in internet marketing.

I remembered that was almost 2 years ago when I first read online someone from my home country actually made $11k in a month just by following a simple system.

So I bought the ebook hoping to learn how to make some extra money. I got to know about adwords, adsense, affiliate marketing, pay per click etc. But my main interest is still in affiliate marketing because of the high commission payout. I started promoting clickbank products related to weight loss, softwares, making money etc. I got some sales but it was not enough to cover my ads expenses. That is when I stopped affiliate marketing and move to adsense. I built many blogs after doing keywords research. But I made little money from adsense. At that time, I got a new job and was too busy with it so I stopped IM. But I never give up on IM.

I bought more ebooks and sign up for free courses to learn more about IM. I decided to put in more effort into my IM business knowing that it will become profitable one day. I created a squeeze page with optin offering free ebooks on how to make money online.
I made some sales through my list but it is still not good enough to quit my day job.

I have about 200 subscribers now and I hope to reach 1000 by end of this year. Because I know that if I want to succeed in IM niche, I have to build a huge list.

I'm afraid 'boredom' got me to this point.

            Good starter Tye,

Ill health forced me out of the job I loved in the costruction indudtry.

I was housebound, with a computer belonging to my daughter sat in the room staring at me.

I was even 'scared' to turn it on incase I broke it somehow.

But after a few 'flow-charts' given to me by my kids. You know, do this, then this, then this and you've copied & pasted something. etc, etc. I slowly got the hang of it and turned days and months into a productive knowledge base where the only way is UP as far as I can see.

It's great to come here and 'stalk' the 'real' brains on this forum.

Hope I'll be able to give back some day.

I'm sure you're going to love it here.

    Hi Tyler,

What drove me toward internet marketing was the desire to learn business skills to market and promote my talents correctly. Music is my main passion, as well as books, and film, but my business skills were always lacking. When I was in high school, I was really good at 'street team' marketing for bands (my marketing launched my friends band to the #1 ranking on Mp3.com's Nu-Metal charts in 2002), but other than that I didn't know what I was doing. I figured that no one else is going to do my work for me, unless I got an agent, but there is no guarantee that an agent alone could provide the platform for success that I would like. And with the internet becoming bigger and more universal with each passing day, I decided to learn how business is done on the internet to give me an edge on 'how stuff works'.

Hey Tyler, i'm new to this forum too!!!

My personal reason to move into this wonderful world of internet marketing, was the fact that i REALLY HATED MY JOB!!!

I was a ceramic tile and marble floors installer( some people says i'm goooooddd), but that wasn't really what i wanted for my life.

I was tired of working at rich people's houses and see the kind of life they have.

I'm not telling i'm going to be one of those riches, but i'm pretty sure at least i'm going to live a nice life witout having to break my back, don't you think??

So far i'm doing a good life from this im my first six months so, i think i'm in the good direction.

After creating a series of e-books and paying tons of money to have my website built, I was lead to the warrior forum by someone who created artwork for me. I ignored it. Then, two other people suggested that I join Warrior. When I finally came to the forum, I was completely mesmerized by the success a lot of the Warriors are making online. IM also complimented my original idea to create info products to sell. This was the answer to my prayers. I can generate income, while doing what I love. Much better than working a regular 8-5.

For me...in 2004 it started because I just needed money to buy me a cool ipod.
I ran across some ebay auctions claiming I could make $10.000 a month by just sending $7 bucks to number 1 on a list of 10 paypal accounts.

Of course I didnt make any money with this scam but it got me started though.

I think a lot of us have probably been scammed in the beginning, but we can't just blame the people who sold us a product, I know I just wasn't motivated to do the research and learn about internet marketing, I have learned from my many mistakes and am now researching different methods and techniques everyday, I also suggest joining a well known internet marketers mail list, i have actually learned a lot from different training videos i have been sent, and it has led me to discovering even more research I would have never thought of.

  • Well, I didn't have a 'job' to begin with (too lazy to even search for one). When I was still in college, I first saw those data entry job ads in a local newspaper which was basically the start of it all. Slowly I got into MLM where I didn't make a penny. Then I joined Mark Hendricks's famous 12 days giveaway back in December 2005 and that was what got me started in internet marketing.

So that is my story, maybe a bit dull, but true.

    1. Love the freedom

    2. Love spending more time with my family

    3. Love not paying for gas!

I havn't technically started it yet, im still runing up the learning curve but the reason is that I don't care about money enough to let it affect my life so the more I have the less I worry about it lol.

Absolute freedom and self reliance is what I am looking for.

My name is Chris, and let me tell you, I used to work hard. Really hard... like millions of other Americans... while hardly getting by, living paycheck to paycheck.

I always wanted to live the "American Dream" but no matter what job I had, I could never get anywhere close to making enough money to live the life I have always wanted.

No matter what I would do, my bank balance was always at zero at the end of the month and, my credit cards kept accumulating debt. I hated my jobs, my bosses, the debt, and most of all... I hated not being able to provide for my family the life I wanted to give them.

Then, when I thought things can't get any worse, they did...

I remember the exact day. It was December 7th (My birthday) and I got laid off from my only job I had. Christmas was approaching and I planned on buying my wife a very special Christmas gift (the kind that shines in the light and can only be worn on her ears).

But all of a sudden, I could no longer afford that gift. I didn't even know how I was going to afford putting a roof over our head and food on the table.

I felt like the world came crashing down on me, and that I had to do something fast, very fast, before my family and I were out on the street. I needed another way to make money immediately. And as I was thinking about it, I asked myself: Before I make any moves that will tie me into another job I won't enjoy, why don't I consider what it is I want... and don't want in a job?

So I put together a checklist of what I DON'T want in a job.

      * I don't want a boss to tell me what to do.

      * I don't want to be on anyone else's time clock.

      * I don't want to wake up early to an annoying alarm clock.

      * I don't want to commute anymore and site for hours in traffic.

      * I don't want to spend more time in an office than at home.

      * I don't want to run a business and worry about expenses.

      * I don't want something that requires special training.

      * I don't want to waste my life away working for someone else.

      * I don't want to be told what to do and how to do it.

      * I don't want to be told how many days I can go on vacation.

      * I don't want to spend time away from my family anymore.

As you can see, my list was quite long with what I don't want in a job. I was then ready to put together my checklist of what I DO want in a job.

      * I want to work from home or anywhere else I choose.

      * I want to have a job that will give me all the free time I want.

      * I want to spend as much time with my family as I want.

      * I want an income that will give my family more than we need.

      * I want to take time off and travel whenever I want.

      * I want to do something that I enjoy.

      * I want to be able to make more money the more I work.

      * I want something that will be easy to do.

      * I want to only work a few hours a day.

      * I want to choose when, where and how long to work.

      * I want (and need) to start making money immediately.

      And guess what...

I set myself a new years resolution. My new years resolution was to quit making excuses and actually do something about my life.

That's right, I took ACTION! Here's how it happened...

After thinking it over, I began expressing to people the type of job I wanted. The people I was showing my checklists to did not take me seriously.

I myself didn't know if something like this really existed. But I did make up my mind that i'm going to look for it until I find it.

You could say, My quest for this buried treasure of a stress-free and happy lifestyle that comes with working from home has begun.

I started by going to some of the popular Internet Marketing forums online and signing up for every "Work at Home" opportunity I could find.

You would probably faint if you saw how many credit cards I maxed out from buying into "The Dream" that comes with working from home.

Seriously, I spent tens of thousands of dollars that I didn't have (remember, they were credit cards) trying to find a job that would just work.

It was sad to say that out of all of that money spent, 6 months later, and three jobs I had to work just to pay off my expensive quest came to an end.

You see, when I was on this "Quest" to finding out how I could find the job that meets everything on my checklist, I didn't have much going for me.

      * I didn't know how to create a product

      * I didn't know how to set up a website

      * I didn't know how to set up a payment system

      * I didn't know what HTML was

      * I didn't know how to upload files to a server

      * I didn't know what an auto responder was

      * I didn't know what "pay per click" advertising was

      * I didn't have a clue how to set up an affiliate program

      * I didn't know how to set up web stats to monitor traffic

      * I never ran a business before, much less an internet business

      * I had zero experience with advertising or making money from home

As you can see, I didn't know much about anything when it comes to working from home and running an online business that would give me the life I was searching for.

So what did I do? Simple (well, not THAT simple). I started networking with as many people as I could. I quit buying products and started making connections.

After months of networking, I struck gold. I met a guy by the name of Matt who was a highly skilled programmer who was looked at as a "Programming God" on several of the largest computer programming forums on the internet.

I approached him and explained that I have some incredible ideas to make money on the internet, and nobody is teaching them, not even the gurus and experts.

Of course, he wanted to know what my ideas were, so I had him sign a non-disclosure agreement so that he wouldn't discuss them with anyone else.

Once that was behind us, I told him my ideas and he was in pure shock. He was simply blown away with what I wanted to do.

You see, the only way to make a KILLING on the internet is to either a) know the right people or b) spend your own time figuring out what works.

Well, I spent the time (and money), but could never find the right person to work with.

You see, what I want is something that is 100% Automated.

That's right, for me to live the life I want and make the money I dreamed of, I need to business that can be automated with fancy computer programs.

Nobody has done this. If they have, they are not offering it to people like you and I.

Matt and I started working on some initial plans for a few things that would make us a lot of money. Guess what, we ARE making a lot of money because of this.

We always joked around about what we are doing is like we are creating our very own "Frankenstein" in our secret laboratory. This was the beginning of "YouLabs.com".

Within three months, I was able to quit all 3 of the jobs I was working at the time.

I now had an easy work at home job, working less than 4 hours a day, and making more money in a week than I used to earn working 14 hour days for months on end.

I no longer had a boss, worked as little or as much as I wanted, paid off all of my debt, and watched my life completely turn around in several weeks.

      Fast forward to today and...

I am now a Millionaire working from the comfort of my own home.

      * I live in my dream home.

      * I can buy all of the things (and expensive toys) that I want.

      * I buy my wife jewelry and diamonds for "Just because" gifts.

      * I do what I want, when I want.

      * I take vacations worldwide and see things most people dream about.

      * I am able to give my family the life i've always wanted them to have.

      * I am able to make large donations to local and national charities.

      * I am capable of just about anything when it comes to working from home.

      * I am able to make an endless amount of income on the internet.

      * I have no financial worries anymore and I am completely secure and happy.

      * I finally have the time to help others succeed like I have online.

And most importantly... I can spend time on this forum helping others on the internet.

      Glad to be a Warrior.

Internet marketing came upon me through running my eBay business which I started at age 12. The main reason I strived to make an internet income was because I was not raised with much money or very good for that matter and was always independent so I pushed to find my own way out. My main mindset behind running an internet business was the same as many others who are in it today, why would you work your ass to sell stuff for someone else for 8/hr when your smart enough to own and operate that business yourself and do it better.

....well, I like to sleep late and I always hated commuting to an office. Really that was quite enough reason to see if I could make this internet income thing work.

Now, after having had some success, I look forward to moving across country and taking my business with me!....I couldn't do that in any other occupation.

What drove me into internet marketing?

I don't like schedules and I love the idea of being an entrepreneur.

Ever since I was a child I took charge, did things my own way, made some money, and I even had fun doing it!

I believe it was God who led me to Internet marketing. I never thought i would ever own a profitable online business. I got involved in network marketing because as a teacher, I really needed to supliment my income. Those days, we were taught to solicit friends and family. When I run out of prospects, I turned to the Internet. I realised that there are millions of people on the net who want to do business with me. I discovered that though I was a newbie, I could bring prospects to me. I immediately started on the process. Now the benfeits are many.. I love looking after my family, I work at my pace, no boss and how I love the early morning sleep!!!

            Nintendo!

I thank Nintendo for it al!

Back in 1991 it all began with the magical NES and that boomed my love for everything electronic..

Once I got the internet in 2001 I started creating Nintendo sites and then eventually found my way to the warrior forum.

            The rest is history

Having said that, the reason WHY I'm into IM, is because I want to work for myself, not be a slave and not waste my life working the 9-5 routine.

            7 reasons:

            Me
            My wife
            My 5 kids

We all wanted to eat every single day!

Sure the money was a big part of it. But the real kicker for me is the time freedom.

I love being able to be around the kids throughout the day.
I love coaching the two youngest boys in basketball. (They're really good).
I love playing music with my oldest son. (He's a drummer. I'm a bass player).
I love when my wife walks in to my office and says, "Let's go have lunch" (and we can).

Try doing all that stuff with a regular job.

              Hey Brian,

I think that the freedom aspect of this type of work is the biggest bonus of all, what job can you make 20,000+ in a month and have all the time you want to do whatever you want? This is a big reason why I have decided to be in IM, and the income potential that comes with being able to reach millions with a click of the mouse!

I was sitting in a meeting a while back with some "highly educated and expensive attorneys". I know they were expensive because I called the meeting and it wasn't cheap!

During a break, the topic came around to how people dress and the whole "dress for success" concept.

As I looked around the table, everybody (but me) was wearing suits ... expensive ones ... and there I was in my t-shirt and jeans.

They were all wrapped up in the idea of "the clothes make the man", etc... and how when you see someone in a t-shirt that is untucked and a pair of jeans, it just seems to say "slacker".

I almost spit my coffee across the table.

"Uh, Guys ... this t-shirt wearin' guy is paying for this meeting. I had to get dressed up to come here. Frankly, that annoyed the crap out of me. When I get home, I'm putting on my gym shorts and working barefoot for the rest of the day."

The look on some of the faces was PRICELESS!

It ranged from a bit of arrogance to a realization that I probably made more money than most of the attorneys sitting at that table. And I didn't have to spend any of it on an expensive suit to impress someone.

That's another fun example of the freedom we enjoy.

HAHAHA great story, I would've loved to see the look on their faces, I find people with a lot of education put themselves at a higher status level and think of themselves as better....true or not Internet marketers are able to prove to everyone that the good life isn't really that hard to achieve, you just have to do a little research and digging

I love logging into my affiliate sites and watching the earnings go up and up and up...

I hate working for someone else. They're getting rich from my sweat.

I love to travel, and want the flexibility to go where I want and make my own schedule.

I can run an affiliates business from home or Spain or Singapore. It's a business in a suitcase.

My car sits in the driveway because I don't need it to go to work. I save on insurance driving only 3,000 miles a year.

I have yet to really embark on this in a way that's successful, but I'm back in the game again and I see the possibilities.

For me it's pretty simple. Internet marketing is simply the most efficient way to make lots of money in a short period of time with the least amount of work...though there's more mental and technical work involved. I thought about all the things I wanted (and still want) to do and figured that I might as well fund all that in the easiest way I can.

Anyway, i have never planned to work for any body in life. Stone Evans and Robert G. Allen draged me into IM. Originally, i have the mind of making money and creating wealth and above all passing both from generation to generation as the dua mentioned above has done.

The whole thing started like this, i stumbled into stones website when i was writting my university project, after reading his sales page which shows that he got the idea from the book he read called MULTIPLE STREAM OF INCOME by Robert G Allen. so i decided to go for the book offline and after reading the book i was convinced. inshort that is my best book so far. I've always wanted to work at home, so I became a web designer with the goal of having my own business. Three years into a boring corporate cubicle job updating the company site, a friend introduced me to IM. I was very sceptical, but gave it a try. Made my first $50 two months later on a niche site I built. All my marketing is for natural SEO.

I was hooked, and thought "Okay, so now I can work from home, but my only real customer is Google. Sweet!" I've now been working at home full time for close to a year, and can't imagine going back to a cubicle.

      Commute time is great, too!

Worked as a television sports director and anchor. Hated it! Well, actually didn't hate the job so much as I hated the hours. Working until 11:00 every night I only saw my kids when I got up in the morning to take them to school. They weren't home before I went to work and were asleep (or should have been) when I got home. Missed a lot of ballgames etc.

Decided to get into news management and became a television news director. Somewhat better hours but still hated it. Well again, didn't hate the job so much as I hated the people I worked for.

Didn't want to move to find a better company so I began looking around for ways to make money at home. Tried MLM and made very little money. Started selling on eBay (still do to a much lesser extent), very time consuming. Came across SBI and built my first site. Now we're getting somewhere. This was fun and I saw it could be profitable.

Ended up spending much of my time at work researching and building other sites on my own without SBI. Started hanging out here and learning. I'm now full time in IM and would likely never go back.

I still have that SBI site by the way.

internet marketing is a good venue to earn big amount of money. aside from you do not have to exert too much physical effort, it is really satisfying to work from home, dealing with clients, playing with your kids, and then earning big amount. that is the best thing that happened in my life and i will not let go of it.

Well, I am going to a private college, and have had 2/3rds of my college costs cut by scholarships. So here I am, a bit over $10k to pay for college (due to a problem with parents divorcing my mom is carrying a heavy load of that) and I want to be able to pay at least half of that because I feel bad. She owns her own business as a micromanagement doctor (she is the only employee). One day she was searching online for other ways to get money and found some reviews of IM and paid surveys. Here I had a choice. The review said that the paid surveys was for beginners, so I chose IM to go with even though I was a beginner. I am a curious person who is always looking for a challenge. So here I am, in a different position, starting to make a little money and having a blast learning different marketing skills and such that I can hopefully use throughout my life. I am having so much fun learning (as weird as that sounds) and the money is a bonus. But that is how I started with IM in a nutshell.

For me, I think it was the dream. Financial freedom. The ability to finally not have money be a problem and pursue other interests of mine. Like acting and other professions that don't pay well at the start.

I'm not near there yet, but I'm 1000 miles away from where I was when I first began in March 2005.

Nice to see a fellow Toronto dude who's my age here.

The Neil Strauss Annihilation Method Launch followed by some other investment opportunities propelled into IM.

I remember hating Neil Strauss for that launch - a lot of controversy went down about that. Fast forward a couple years later, I laughed my ass off when I knew who was behind it.

    Anyway - rest is history.

    Hi Tye,

    Welcome to the forum!

For me, it was because the barrier to entry is so low, and I was able to start as an entrepreneur for very little money.
