Question about Flip video and YouTube

Hello all.... When I am uploading a new 4-5 minute video from my Flip video camera to Youtube, it seems to take 15-25 minutes to upload. However, when I do a Camtasia video it works much quicker. Any idea on whether that is normal or what I can do to make it faster?

It usually takes my flip that much time to upload to Youtube too. I'm not sure how you can make it any faster. I do have a flip HD so maybe its just the higher quality that takes longer. I don't think that's too long to wait for a video to load...my slideshow videos tend to take that long too. Just in my experience!

Straight from a FLIP is a .avi file I believe. (Pretty LARGE file)

Maybe when you use the camstasia video... it's a different file format (a smaller one) which will upload a lot faster.

I use .mp4 files which are really small and upload quick. A lot faster than .avi anyway.

Could be something like you're experiencing ...?

        Flip files are usually large.
Just add one step and convert the video first by putting it in camtasia
That would decrease the loading time.

Camtasia auto integrates with flipshare just like it does with powerpoint so all you need is to import videos from flipshare to camtasia and publish them in 640 X 480 size for youtube.

        Hope this helps

Actually, straight from a Flip is an mp4 native. Currently, the only vid cam that I am aware of on the market that shoots AVI native is the Creative Vado.

The slowdown is the transfer rate from a USB device. Copy it to your hard drive first and then upload it.
