Please Stop this duplicate content penalty madness. There's no such thing (Official Video frm BIG G)

He also never said that you won't see adverse effects - he actually said that they like to show unique results and sometimes get it wrong.

This means YOU CAN feel adverse effects - it's just the idiotic practice of calling those effects 'Google Penalty' instead of just Googles algorithms catching more than they were trying to.

This is not new news and does not stop people being concerned about crazy effects they see that drop their rankings.

I WATCHED THE VIDEO - stop trying to read my mind - that's the problem you're supposedly trying to fix (people reading Googles mind).

I've seen that stuff said many times before too - it's not new and it doesn't resolve anything.

People will still 'feel' like they've had a penality when their stuff doesn't show up.

I've outranked people for stuff they wrote before just because my sites are older and more linked when I've reprinted something from EZA etc. They've complained to me many times that Google has 'penalized' them because I have duplicated their content.

No matter how many times I tell them the same stuff as the Google people do - they still feel that they got penalized.

You can't stop people worrying and making up things to explain their concerns.

Trying to bitch at me that you read my mind and I must just not understand the Google guy isn't solving the situation. I've been doing SEO pretty much since seo started and I still would never try to tell anyone what are Google facts - because Google always change their algorithms and the effects we see are often not what they planned and normal good websites often get scrubbed from the results or don't show up for months - people do feel like they got penalised - that's life.

Saying their concerns are false doesn't stop them worrying - especially when their site just disappeared out of Google.

It's good that you share the video - just not that you now think you know everything and want to tell people 'facts' which are just what you're working out based on what other people say.

Your last comment was right - people should NOT listen to others about this and should just test for themselves and do what they believe is the right thing and in the interest of their target audience.

I watched video...I listened to every word he said.

Ultimately, it sounds like Google and everybody is playing word games.

There are a lot of things he didn't bring up which I'd love to hear some
answers to, such as...if you syndicate your content to multiple article
directories.

Do they all get indexed or because they are all the same article, they only
show the most relevant results?

While this may not result in a penalty to your site as far as how it ranks,
it still doesn't answer the question of whether or not all those articles get
listed and count as backlinks to your site.

Therefore, if every submission of your article beyond the first one, or the
initial placement on your site results in no listing, while this may not
technically be a penalty, it sure does make for a lot of wasted time and
effort if those articles ultimately end up being for nothing.

Granted, this seems to indicate that you can take an article from a
directory and place it on your site and won't be penalized.

However, which do you think is better for your own site as far as being
ranked?

1. Having content from other sites.
2. Having your own original content seen nowhere else.

My money is on number 2 as a web master.

Yes, maybe there is no actual penalty.

But I'd rather spend my time writing my own original content than scraping
it off of every other site in existence, especially since the latter does
nothing for making me an expert in the field I'm writing on.

Just my 2 cents of course.
