Clickbank Earnings Vary so Much. Uh?

I promote a variety products in a variety of niches. Sales generally consistently trickle in each day.

However, what happens quiet often is I don't make a sale for a week, sometimes even two! Pretty much the only time I don't get an affiliate sale is when I don't get an affiliate sale for a whole week! For example, from the Jan 23 to Jan 31 I made ZERO affiliate sales and then suddenly Feb 1 onwards I get several a day.

What the heck is happening... I've heard other Warriors echo similar statements. Is this because Clickbank sucks at tracking? What can be done about it?

I think this comes down to the rules of randomnes.

    "Nothing is Random"

In other words, if you throw a dice 6 times you are not guaranteed to get a 2. Even at 60 throws you are not guaranteed, but the chances have increased and not making 2 in 60 throws would be wierd. Still throw 61, 62, 63 and 64 might be a number 2.

If you have 1 percent convertion rate your dice suddenly have 100 sides to land on and you have to get it on the side that says sale.

So after 1000 throws or hops you will more often than not have 8-12 sales, but all sales could have been made on the last 200 hops.

Also if you have not had 1 sale in 199 hops only meen that the one statistical customer did not choose to buy.

You also have to take into consideration that your market is not random. You have paydays, bad weather, good weather, bad news, good news, summer and winter, economics, fear, christmas, valentinesday, january etc that might affect your sales to some degree. There are also Google Dances and similar that will affect your traffic.

Still, the more traffic you drive to your website/clickbank, the more regular your sales will be.

I know that sales aren't reported immediately, but to my knowledge they don't sit there for a week

I really wouldn't blame it on anything....just fickle buyers. You could always check your CB analytics and see what the hops and order form impressions are for the period where there aren't any sales.
