Did NVU Die?

by Asher 8 replies
A few weeks back, I tried to get NVU to make my webpages but
I couldn't get in. I guessed they were doing some kind of updates
but they never did.

I just checked in again and I realised that the site they use for
people to download the software has expired.

It says "NOTICE: This domain name expired on 09/19/2008 and is
pending renewal or deletion
"

This is a PR6 page that's going to be grabbed by people if it
doesn't get renewed!

As I remember NVU hasn't been available at that url for a year or more. Kompozer is an unofficial release KompoZer - Easy web authoring that's very stable.

Nvu is outdated and no longer supported. So I guess the developers decided to let the domain expire. Kompozer replaced Nvu. It's the same program but more stable.

Wow, they're letting it expire? For anyone that's reading this,
it's a PR6 website for goodness sake! Not to mention the tons
of ebooks that point to nvudev.com

Someone just needs to buy the domain if it doesn't get renewed
and put another website developer into it to get the traffic.

Which domain are you referring to? At time of this posting I see:
      • nvu.com expiry 24/09/2009 last updated 24/10/2007 and loads NVU site pointing to NVU (nvudev.com) and KompoZer
      • nvudev.com expiry 19/09/2009 last updated 20/9/2008, however the home page is loading with the domain name expired on 09/19/2008 message in the heading and sponsored listings.
So I guess domain availabilty issues have been resolved, but I am surprised by what they seem to have done to nvudev.com's home page.

It may of had a pr6, but once it changes hands Google cleans the slate

all you can hope out of this is siphon off traffic

I wonder how much age that domain has - that's the REAL value in buying expired domains. It would seem that "TrustRank" does exist, and that domain age is a piece of that puzzle.

For the record, KompoZer is still working just fine.
