I am stuck! Having a Hard Time To Decide How To Deliever My E-Course? Please Advise.

Hi,

I recently completed a 7 lesson e-course but having a hard time to decide on the best way to deliver it. The 7 days lesson was designed in a way that people will be able to complete a set of daily task that will somehow connected and lead them to the next lesson.

I need your advise and opinion.

Which would you prefer for such kind of content?

To be downloaded as ONE complete E-Book or delivered to you in 7 separate days?

At 1st wanted to set it up like a member's area where each lessons will be unveiled once the previous lesson is completed yet felt that maybe people will not be able to complete it as each days goes by.

However, if I use a ebook option instead, people may jump around the chapters.

Please help.

Cheers
Jason Ser

Have you taken on some test subjects?

I would find a couple of people, and deliver it as an AR to one, and as the ebook to the other.

Then you need to survey them after the fact and see where each one is at in the end of the 7 days.

Personally, I do better if I can review an entire course up front, and then go back through one step at a time. I like to know what is coming next.

Thanks for your honest opinion. So basically, you would everything in one single shot. May I know the reason behind this?

      Thanks John,

You do have a point here. Why I never thought
      of that myself?

I think there must be quite a lot of people who will like
to digest information like you do.

      Thanks Again.

    mrjasonser,

I would go for the complete eBook rather than eCourse. Again, individual's opinion defers. Best is to do a test and compare the results. Cos there are no hard or fast rule though. It boils down to what kind of content u r marketing or selling. : )

Well in my personal opinion. Most of the people download it, read it and keep the product and probably never take action which is sad. If you deliver it over a period of 7 days via autoresponder the chances are people will get reminded to take action daily. And if the content is good I would stay subscribed for sure! Otherwise yes I wouldn't hesitate hitting the unsubscribe link.

Using autoresponder you will also increase your chances of building a relation with your list and a chance to softsell them daily. Hope that helps

      Thanks James,

I like your idea of "soft selling" them them daily. But how do I soft sell?
Can you share a bit more with your experience?

I totally agree. Give it away and deliver by email. day by day.You will be able to build your list + you will build credibility.

If you want to give it away for free and build
trust with your email list, than giving it day by
day would be a better option.

However, if you plan on selling it, buyers might
get frustrated paying for a product that they don't
have instant access to. I know I would.

Some people just don't like when you don't give them the whole product at once. Because they had to wait 7 days to see if is the rigth product for them.

If is free you can deliver it monthly if you want, but if is a paid system, Is better to cut the risk and give them the complete ebook, and you can add a checklist for each day so they can monitor their progress (if they want).

If they choose to follow it step by step or skip chapters is their decission, and it all depends on how you set their minds in your sales letter.

Some people tend to rise their barriers when you force them to make the things to your way, even though is probably in the best interest for them.

I remember an adword coaching that I took some time ago, it was a five step coaching. I completed 3 of them and when I tried to login for the 4th the site was down, never had the chance to finish it.

      Hi NeoDarth,

Thank you so much for your valuable input.

The checklist idea is a good one. I will consider it.

      You mentioned that

"If they choose to follow it step by step or skip chapters is their decission, and it all depends on how you set their minds in your sales letter."

how do I set their minds in my sales letter?

I am sorry to hear about your bad experience with the 5 step adword coaching. I will make sure that won't happen to mine. I do have 2 more question for you though, out of curiosity...

-Is the 1st 3 lessons any good?
-Will you still subscribe again, if the owner explain to you the reason it was shut down and offer his apology and say he will contact you once he get it up again?

Make them believe that the only way to succed is to do the things the way you teach them. Show them how rewarding will be to reach day 7 and see results.

Build great expectations with an appealing overview of what they will find every day, so they stick to you until day 7.
A good twist will be give them at the end of the period a surprise 8th day secret techniques!
        -Is the 1st 3 lessons any good?^
Yes it was a check list with daily tasks to complete to be able to unlock the next, it was actually fun in a way... I'm still wondering how it ends...

I don't think so, 5 months has passed, and no word from him. So my trust in him was complety destroyed, burned to the ashes.

If it is a paid product, definately all at once. No questions about that personally.

If it is a free product, I would go for the day by day installment. As somebody said, it will allow you to start building a relationship with someone and not have to worry for content for at least 7 days (if you are going on a daily basis).

    mrjasonser,

    >>You mentioned that it boils down to what kind of content I am marketing, can you give me a 2 examples , 1 for ebook, the other for e course to elaborate a bit more?

eCourse eg => Say the general subject is about achieving a better physique, better body. I would suggest going for eCourse, as from the perspective of the user, you can make them anticipate your next piece of info with bated breath and excitment if your info contains enriching content and experiences. I remembered that I experienced this when I subscribed somebody's newsletter/ecourse and found it very valuable and insightful besides being free. I felt I have gotten some good value out of it. Also, info in this instance can be segmented into pieces.

eBook eg => technical subjects like to "How to Win Your Ex- back" or "How to Repair/Upgrade Your xBox machine". In these scenerios, feels that eBook will be more suited. You wouldn't want to make your subscribers wait for your next course in order to get the most urgent task done, would u? I mean, if I am eager to solve "the problem", I would expect the steps to be outlined together in an ebook and not through an eCourse.

Idea here is that you can decide based on the logic behind when u are trying to market your product, be it free or paid. Again test the market for the responses, and make changes if deem fit.

Hope that can help understand what u r marketing better.

    Cheers,

I personally like the idea of delivering one lesson per day, because it indeed stops people from rushing ahead, skipping lessons, etc. The last thing you need is people complaining about their results when they didn't even follow all of the lessons.

    Hi Jason,

Sorry about taking so long to get back to you. I have looked over the other responses and I do not think I could add any more to it. The majority seems to feel that, depending on the type of course, the week by week release is acceptable. I think that by keeping your list or membership actively aware that it is important that they participate in order to get the best result from the course. The surprise on the eighth week would be awesome and definitely would keep folks involved know that there is something at the end worth the work.

Hope this helps and thanks for raising the question. It seems to have gotten a lot of us thinking. Have an excellent day all and may each day be a profitable one..!

    Do both.
    What? Why?

Deliver the goods - the whole ebook.
Then break it into pieces as a Coaching Course
Every couple of days bam! a new lesson and a kick in the a*s to implement it

Most ebooks are a waste of time for most people most of the time
    Why? Lack of implementation

      Keith,

It's just a point of view. I have done some courses that work better for me to have them given week to week. It depends on who is giving the course and if they are reputable or not. If not, then sure, give me the whole thing and I will decide. Some folks jump ahead and get all screwed up and frustrated. In the end they lose, and often give the course a crappy review because they got confused. No one wins there right?

But you have a good point as well. If it's all about you getting your info up front because you paid in full, check out the refund policy if you don't trust them.

Hope you have a great day, and again, it's just a point of view.

The exact suggestion I was going to make. Add a little more the coaching emails than what is available in the ebook as an encouragement to read the emails. Make it known that each email will include a detailed action plan for that section of the ebook and a killer tip that is not included in the ebook.

Personally, though I wouldn't advertise it, I would add a small review of the previous step to remind the individual of what they should have done and more importantly it will remind them of who you are.

You can still do the bonus 8th step. After the 8th step, you can send period tips to help improve a step, and recommend another product of your own or an affiliate product to give an even more in-depth or detailed action plan for that tip. This would be like over-delivering.

I don't really understand why some people think delivering paid content in daily courses would be a bad idea...

Think of all those membership sites with dripping content! Aren't they doing just the same? First you access the first week/month content, then the next, the next etc.

And every tutorial/manual on memberships (a.k.a. recurring income) says the cheapest membership setup is an AR sequence.

So, yes, depending on the niche and market dripping content is a viable solution.
