My 82.1% Conversion Squeeze Page + Proof

Just thought I'd share something that recently worked well for me. I recently added close to 1,000 leads with a squeeze page conversion of 82.1%. Feel free to steal any ideas from this example.

Let's try to learn something from this as a group. Why do you think it converted so well?

The source of the traffic was Kevin Riley's 2010 Giveaway. Thanks to Kevin for inviting me to participate.

I guess there are two takeaways - 1) I need to do more giveaway events because they are a great source of leads. 2) Simple squeeze pages that focus on a benefit that people really want work like crazy.

Here's the squeeze page:

Ron, my guess would be that there were a combination of factors.

      1. The offer is almost irresistible. Anybody who does affiliate marketing and
uses URL shorteners like TinyURL would be daft not to take advantage of
this. Even I would, and I create my own by hand using PHP. Real pain in the
      ass.

      2. The look of the page itself is totally different from anything I've ever seen
so you don't have the problem of what I call "squeeze page blindness" that
I think kills a lot of these pages.

Those two things combined, I think make up the high opt in rate.

      Good work.

I think those are two very good points. I'd like to think it's my copy skills rather than dudes wanting to see the girl in the video.

But seriously though, all the testing in the world can't help you if you don't offer something that people really want.

    Hey thanks man,

Feel free to steal any ideas from this example.

Before I came in I was wondering
    whether you'll allow warriors to
    swipe the thing

Coz there was an issue re: salescopy swipping
with some warrior not too long ago.

    Again, thanks man.

      best,
Abundance, my friend. I couldn't care less if someone swipes the copy. Hopefully it helps them make some money. I wrote the copy myself and take it as a compliment . Plus, people will swipe it anyway regardless of what I say.

After Stevens comment I had to go take a look at the page.

I'm going to chalk it up to the Bazoongas that are properly displayed above the fold.

I would be bold enough to guess that your list is a MIMINUM 80 percent men.

Good job on getting them in.

The real task in the giveaway is actually converting them to buy something.

It sure helped, but that alone won't make people opt-in. There are free sites that show a lot more. As a marketer, hopefully that's not all you got from Steven's insightful post.

Well, to be honest with you, those things are what pulled in my attention.

I'm very straight but if I as a straight female had an issue with feeling like I needed to look, I can only understand what the majority of guys are up against - whether they admit it or not.

Not trying to dis your copy or the other factors of the page. Just telling you how it honestly affected me.

I would be silly not to try and add some cantaloupes to an appropriate campaign to see how it affected my opt-in.

    Ron,

Really thumps home the fact that you do not need a long drawn out pitch to make a great squeeze page.

Simple and striking. This is what I offer and this is how you get it!

Really got my head going. I think I over complicate squeeze pages when I don't need too! If the traffic is targeted it will convert!

Once again you've planted a seed Mr Douglas!

Ron, your Optin form is blocked by Firefox with Adblock Plus (70 million downloads...10 Million Active Daily Users). You probably could have bumped that conversion rate even higher if you didn't use Aweber's Javascript optin form.

I didn't realize that. Thanks for sharing.

It seems like users of that are doing themselves a disservice by blocking all Javascript, but I can't argue with those numbers.

There's actually more to the success of this opt in page but I didn't want
to get into a whole big copywriting analysis that would probably bore most
      people to death.

      But just some fine points.

      1. The whole thing practically is above the fold, even on 800 x 600 screen
      res, which is almost unreal.

      2. The top section screams street cred when you've been on all those shows.

      3. The main headline...not only does it say that you don't have to rely on
those other services, but you can get this setup in 10 minutes or less.
Sometimes, time is more important than the fact that it's free.

      4. There is the added bonus of discovering how to make money with
      video forward.

You need to understand. These are affiliate marketers who are going to
be interested in this script...and affiliate marketers are always looking
for ways to make money. How much the added incentive helped, don't
know...but it certainly couldn't have hurt.

      5. Prospect is being told that there are only 2 steps to the process. What
      this does is 2 things.

First, it assures them that this isn't going to be a long drawn out ordeal.

But, and this is a psychological think with OCD people, seeing that it IS
2 steps, they're going to be compelled to complete them WHICH they
can't do alone on page 1.

They MUST complete step 1 to get to step 2.

If this wasn't stated, there could have very well been a lot of people who
      figured, why bother?

      6. The arrow pointing to the opt in box makes it crystal clear where to
enter the details. This doesn't assume that the person is going to find it
on their own. Trust me, some opt in pages don't make it crystal clear.

The whole thing is just a piece of artwork.

      My advice?

Study this opt in page and understand what Ron did and why it works so
      well.

The copy itself is not beyond anything that a fairly intelligent person
shouldn't be able to come up with. It's actually very basic but it gets right
      to the point.

I have to say...I'm REALLY impressed.

Especially since my best opt in pages only do 50%.

Can I borrow a ten spot? I'm a bit short on the deal.

This other site of mine is magic... 1442 submissions... 0% conversions!!!

Stupid members script kills my tracking...

Nice work on yours, and you held it for over double the subs..I have no idea what mine is at now as I converted it to the ghost system.

Personally, I just wrecked your percentages by not opting, but the thing that really pulls, is obviously the video image gets attention, but the idea of getting lots of links to your site instead of others is pretty straight forward and a great proposition.

It just makes sense. Sure why not do that?

That, and from my own experience I'm guessing you have great targeted traffic. That helps.

Ron, that is indeed a work of art. It's like golf, tennis, or basketball you see on TV. You watch others do it and think, "Thank looks easy, I cold do that myself."

But when someone puts a ball in your hand and says--go do it--it's a bit harder than it looks. Took a screen shot so I can study it a bit more. I used to be happy with 20% but you've raised the bar substantially. Nice work!

      Ron,

      Here's my best guess...

(And you could confirm this with something like ClickTale)

I'll bet when most people hit the page, they:

      1. Notice the nice, big blue arrow pointing down....

      2. Want to know WHAT they are signing up for, so they click the video play button....

      3. Nothing happens, but they still want to know, so they THEN scan the copy...

      4. They read the compelling offer, including the free script giveaway...and they then sign up.

In fact, I'd be willing to "bet a buck" that if the video actually played, your opt-in rate would drop substantially...

      Great work!

for me cold traffic is the only number that matters.... anyone can convert well on warm traffic....

Ron, don't listen to any of the haters. We know your heart's in the right place and you give out good information. I think some people are missing the point here. Ron was explaining that ONE of the reasons the conversion rate was higher WAS because it was warm traffic.

Contrary to what some people believe, I've had clients who couldn't convert warm traffic if their life depended on it. Sure it's easier to convert, but there are things you can do to make it convert better and Ron shared some of those things. That's what makes it a solid post.
