Another New Offline Guy

Hey, I'm actually kind of new to warrior forums, I've been browsing the forums for over a year now but I've just never joined...even tho I've bought some WSOs from here (and actually bought a few this week and I decided to join so I could thank some of the producers).

But I am a younger offline internet marketer.... I started off in affiliate marketing, freelance seo/internet marketing, and last year I started my own full time Local Offline Internet Marketing business...I've had a few rough spots here and there getting started, but there is one thing that I have learned from my experiences in internet marketing is this.....if you start something....work hard on it....and good things will come.

Look forward to becoming a part of this GREAT community!

Hi Travis - just get out there and meet people at breakfast, lunch, and evening networking meetings. If you're more adventurous, you can give talks. Business owners genuinely want to know more about marketing online.

Chris is absolutely right! In the first few years of any offline business its all about doorknocking, building relationships and getting your name out there!

The best way to get business is to be a regular human being.

You've got to let people know that you take an interest in them. You can lead them to good resources, you can give a few tips, you know where they can get help.

Being friendly is a great help.

I know it's old hat, but when people know that you are REAL, and not just in it to grab their wallet, they will run to you.

      Hope this helps.

You have come to the right place in order to get some great advice. The key is to treat others like a person, and not just a number. You have to get into the shoes of the business owner, and think what you would want in their situation.

Often times marketers (both online and offline) go in and try to sell something to someone who doesn't need it. I know the value of the services that I provide, and I also know that I have to convey this message to local business owners.

The key to success in the offline world is to have the skill set necessary to complete the task, but also be able to close the deal once you have a perspective client.

    Thanks for sharing Travis

Yes, you are completely right about the beginning being the roughest. There is a strong need for our services, there is no question about that, but getting those first clients is the challenge. Getting in front of them and convincing them, that's the hurdle.

When I started I reinvested 100% of what clients paid me, right back into advertising. This got me a big enough start that I was able to quickly leave my regular job and do this fulltime.

I keep on thinking about paying for more direct mail advertising, but referrals keep on coming in on their own

My recommendation would be to find a speciality - one service you can excel in. Once you have gotten a few customers through the door - you can start adding strings to you bow.
Start small, find out what works and scale it up.
