If you logged into gmail recently, you'll see that they just released a new social tool that integrates right into gmail called "Google Buzz".

personally I don't quite get it...

I logged in and it offered me followers that I had no interest in, then I couldn't configure for those that I did who had not been suggested by buzz... all very clumsy and not intuitive

I also resent that my e-mail contacts should be so undemocratically hijacked in this manner

Seems rather than pushing the boundaries of expanding our democratic choice google is trying to monopolize our surfing existence without adding ground breaking practical value

So what exactly does google buzz do? Just pick out keywords from your emails and find related items/searches? That it?

It's an interesting idea that's similar to social networking... It's like a mix of Twitter and a lot of other social websites + Google's own twist.

Another tool that I will be lad not to use ... Will it change IM ? No .. The internet itself and technology does that all on it's own and does not need google.

Personally I prefer not to use their evil tools no matter what they come up with ... I can do anything they can do only better because I have full control over my own stuff, use theirs and you have limited control.

Does Google remind anyone else of Microsoft these days?

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

I will give them credit for being marketing masters... Look at how many marketers think about google this and google that and they must get and use all their tools.

Yep if there was ever a guru (and I dislike that word as no such thing exist) I would say the minds behind google are the true guru's..

I for one will be glad when bing puts them in their place ...

Actually they don't ... It is the perception that they do which makes others think they rule the internet.

While many fully depend upon google and would die if they went out of business. There are those of us that would still continue on like nothing happened and our business would not be effected one bit ..

Google has done a perfect job of making people believe that you must use and have google to succeed..

I'm also nervous about Google. I'm not a tin foil hatter, but some of their close relationships with the government make me nervous.

Google's close relationships with the government? Come on now, overly paranoid much?

I think as long as Google continues to produce quality products that sets them apart from MSFT which was largely passed in quality years ago by Apple.

It's an interesting time, but search should simply continue to grow and Google has had more then a few technological break throughs of late.

To be fair, Google has revolutionized the way we surf the net and I think we should give them credit for it. It's fantastic that they can continue to offer all of their great products for free with unobtrusive ads!

Their products are not free ... That is what many do not get ... They cost you in more ways than one.

Would you also sell your soul to the devil for online success ??

Let's go ask those parents how they like the child molesters posting porn on their family sites due to google's so called great products. Maybe disney has something to say about the porn and nasty filthy comments on their site due to google.

How many business's has google hurt and even destroyed due to their products that are so-called free... How many of those business's was run by people just like you and I that have a family to support and feed ??

I give them credit for fooling many people into thinking they are great and nothing more.. They are an evil company that could not care less about you or your family ...

Google will continue to grow because their products just keep pushing the limits of what is possible and I for one support it. Like google street view? That blew my mind. If we have to do business through them to make money so what? If it wasn't them it would be someone else. Someone always has to be on top.

    Who cares

Seems to me Google is now looking to crash the twitter and facebook party.

Is nothing a sacred from their increasingly grimy attempt to turn the internet into their own personal money maker?

Google Buzz is just not an ideal service. I think Google has good ideas, i.e. Chrome, Android OS, Buzz, etc. but they are not quite polished enough.
