Hello all, this is a question for the people that do podcasts. What is the best mic out there for $100? The recordings I made from the mic on my Logitech webcam sound like crap so I have to get something better. Thanks for your suggestions.

The Logitech ClearChat Stereo has worked well for me. It is noise-reducing and pretty inexpensive.

Thanks for the link, that is interesting listening to the different mics. I would prefer a headset but if something is better then I will get it.

Any good condensor mic should do the job.

That's what they use on TV and in movies, I swear by them.

Hello! This is my first post and I am glad that it will be created while trying to help a fellow warrior. I have a history with audio recording and I can recommend you to take a look here:
http://www.tweakheadz.com/microphone...ome_studio.htm - the price range differs but there are few really great microphones that will fit in your budget.

    Best regards,
    Vetskov.

Edit: I have posted the wrong link the first time ^^

This software is new to me and I wouldn't like to give any misleading suggestions. Generally mics in the $100 range are with very nice sound quality and you can hardly go wrong. The question here is if the software has any special requirements in a matter of hardware driver support.

Dragon works with any mic that the computer recognizes. The issue is that the better the audio the more accurate Dragon is. I've tried Dragon using wireless bluetooth headsets and the error rate made the setup unusable.

There are several other threads on this. A recent one discussed hooking up mics to the Kodak Zi8. A search might give you the exact links I don't remember them. The following are products that I've either used or have been given high marks from others here (all in your price range):

I have actually made a lot of research on this and according to this article here ->
CreativeTechs Tips: What is a good microphone for podcasting?
and many Amazon comments on the product, I think your best bet is Plantronics DSP-400 at an affordable pricepoint.

The article compares voice recordings. I wish there was a site for more of these as where I live, that brand's distributors seems not to care about podcasters but just game players.

Plus Amazon UK won't send electronics my way, ebay sellers charge a stupid $30-40 just for shipping... Why was I born here, why?

A headset mic maintains a constant volume from your mouth. You
won't be able to fancy yourself as Howard Stern though, because
he uses a big fixed-position mic. He also has to speak directly at
it and not move around too much.

If you turn your head or move around a bit with a headset mic,
no problem. The volume of the signal stays constant. If you
move around and your mic doesn't, your volume changes and
your listeners may have trouble hearing you.
