Internet Marketing consulting for Small Businesses

INTERNET MARKETING

Can anyone suggest a pricing model for a consultant , who targets small businesses - i.e offline SMBs , people with less Internet knowledge but also targets web sites businesses - the service is SEO and Internet Marketing in general.

I have been thinking for a while to sell what I know about IM , but I am struggling to decide on a pricing model.

I am used to 350 GBP / day UK IT contractor rate at corporations , and frankly it will be a whille before I can reach that kinda level with IM consulting to small businesses. I am not high profile / knowledgeable enough to try IM consulting directly to high-profile dot.coms .. yet

It depends. What types of SEO services are you offering? Are you driving traffic? Building backlinks? Are you guaranteeing organic placement? Utilizing PPC?

It also depends on who your target market is. And best of all, how much are your services going to increase your clients' profits?

You probably would not charge a barber the same thing you would charge an attorney. Are you helping a small business owner bring in 10 more $10 haircuts per month? Or a law firm owner bring in just one five-figure malpractice client a year?

Does that make sense?

Ask them what their budget is, ask them how urgent their needs are and then determine from there what to charge

The first thing I would do is shift away from looking at it as something that will generate a fixed amount for days work. Sounds like a small thing, but coming from contracting you will have a fair bit of baggage that will probably slow you down unless you make a concious decision not to let it...
