Blog Commenting Strategy

I began a few weeks ago a blog commenting strategy. What I do is, for the most part, look for

1) dofollow blogs in my niche
2) find a page that has keywords that are commonly on my site
3) find a page that has relatively few comments on it
4) put the articles keyword(s) in my name of the comment text box
5) put my site's home URL in the URL box
6) leave a pertinent and hopefully valuable comment with the keyword(s) in it

Now I think all of the above is good with one exception, right? Isn't it true that I should NOT put my home page for #5 but should put a specific page on my site that actually used the keyword?

In other words, I want to drive page rank to a specific page on my site that ties in with the page I'm blog commenting on, right? Or should I actually just put my sites URL?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Yes, you will often get better results by DEEP LINKING to the page that is specifically coded to rank for the keyword you are targeting. If you home page is THE keyword optimized page, then you would want to link to that.

That's what I thought! The only thing I'm worried about it alerting the competition to my site since they're usually about PR3 and I'm PR0 and so they could leach off ideas pretty easily off of me.

But you can't worry about everything, eh?

It's unnatural to have all the links to your home page... you should definitely link to an actual post (the link juice is passed to your home page)

I recommend finding a post on your blog that is most closely related to the actual post your commenting on, also don't use the same keywords every time... and you may want to use your name to increase the likely hood of your comment staying on the site ...you could include a keyword as a nickname

What you're saying makes overall sense, but how can I use my real name and a keyword as a nickname at the same time. I've been doing things like "Keyword Guy" and they usually don't delete me from what I've seen.
