UNSUBSCRIPTION HEAVEN!

Hi,

I decided today, that the people that I'm subscribed to just aren't really interested in anything other than trying to sell me stuff (duh!, lol) - I've just looked over the past week's emails and not one of them has offered any real content in a while so I've started clicking on the "Unsubscribe Link" a lot more often (six already this morning).

This is just a tip really - it's a great way to let off some steam, haha.

Apart from that, I have an e-mail system set up whereby I can tell where my email address has come from when I receive spam, and you'd be suprised at how many leaks have come from 'trustworthy' people.

**phew**

Have a good day everyone,

Newbim.

    Haha, kiss them goodbye.

I've got a pretty short list of people I like to hear from, everything else goes to a separate email specifically for optin lists which I monitor once a week or so just to keep my head in the game.

Why do people treat their subscribers so poorly? I mean a good responsive list is pure gold.

    cheers,

    Jonathan

    Hi guys

i often have the same problem - i advertise peoples squeeze pages for them and as a result i subscribe to them to make sure that there is a free gift and its worth it.

Out of all those that have advertised through me (there are a lot) not one of them have i stayed subscribed to.

I always talk about my real stories and not just pitch to my subscribers.

Treat people how you want to be treated yourself

    kind regards

Lol - I don't wait around, I am trigger happy on unsubscribe. I haven't got time to read em all anyway even if they have useful information. 1000 different ways of making $1000 isn't useful to me. 1 way is much more useful!

I am on a few lists that really provide value and I look forward to reading their E-Mails, but there are others where all they seem to do is send 'here is your free download' and adswap E-Mails.

I think I'll be doing some unsubscribing soon myself

Well that can be considered as poor marketing strategy.

Its a great feeling when you bin the rubbish. Now most of my emails are from people that I enjoy reading.

There are a few that are slightly more difficult to let go. For example recently I bought a WSO selling some decent web building software.

They are updating the software regularly. Thats good.

They only let you know by email. I can live with that.

They dont have a seperate list for updates. Thats not so good.

They send me daily emails, sometimes twice a day. Selling me something or sending me pretty basic or rehashed information. Thats bad.

I have to keep them because I want the updates. The solution? I have sent them to email Siberia, which is an ancient hotmail account which I look at every few weeks. I then choose to read the update messages and delete (without reading) the rest.

In my opinion this is appalling marketing. They had a paying customer and have alienated me within two weeks or so of purchasing their product.

Marketers sometimes forget that it is a priviledge to have someones email. I don't think its a coincidence that the marketers I repeatedly buy and get value from respect that principle.

Sure its fine to sell me something. Thats what we do. But if you as a marketer really think that I can't go a day without receiving an email from you, then you are sorely mistaken.

These are my rules. In exchange for my email address I want 80% good info and the other 20% you can sell to me. This is perfectly easy to do. Dont believe me? Get on Kevin Riley's list, or Martin Avis, or Paul Myers or Chris Farrells list and see how its done. Another thing these guys have in common besides knowing how to use a list is that they are all very successful IM'ers. Coincidence? I think not.

I try to read all the mails from where I opt in (hard task) because I like to see how they promote, and thank to that I learned a lot of thecniques from the masters of copywriting, and some lame emails that I need to stay away.

It helps me find what is working and what not in the email advertising world. What can I use in my emails and what can I improve.
