Who provides the support for a Re-seller hosting account?

I want to start offering services to local businesses and amongst these will be giving them free hosting as an incentive.

On your average re-seller package how does the support system work? Is it me that has to answer all the technical queries or can the main host support all that.

I am only going to be offering very basic Wordpress installs or html pages, no complex scripts or anything so I am not expecting a massive problem, just don't want phone calls in the middle of the night.

Does anyone know of any packages that offer support included?

I have searched this forum but there is nothing about it - leads me to think that it's not a problem.

If you are selling to local businesses and want to hand support over to the hosting company then you will be doing yourself no favours. Either way, generally speaking I'd say the person that collects the money from the customer is the one who deals with the support, you'll probably get the call anyway.

There are some companies that will do outsourced phone support for you - as well as web based support. You can pay per call/per ticket.
You can also approach any hosting company that has phone support, and ask them if you can authorize extra people to use the phone support for their account with you. Maybe cost extra but doable.

The other option is to just tell your clients no phone support. Only web based support.
You may want to revise your offer, and offer them free wordpress or basic site design, as long as they use your recommended host. Then make that host be one that offers an affiliate program that pays you for each new signup. If they pay $50 per sign up, and it costs the client $2.99 a month for the hosting, but you offer the free basic site, then you come out ahead. ie they are directly with the company so the company supports them. You get paid for the referral, so you make money, and you've designed their site, so they'll come back to you for any "updates".

    Just a thought

never expect a business owner to have to deal with that. The only reason they should even know there ever was a problem is if a client told them or they couldn't pull it up themselves; and by the time they call, you've taken care of it.

I Have a client that puts his company name in Google every night. He used to get 1-2 pages of results. For $26 I did a 300 back-link campaign. Now he gets 30+ pages of results. To him that is a huge value. Perception is reality!

My reseller actually offers he option of using their support or your own.

Due to my mad tech skills ... I let them do it :-)
