Best Way To Market Using Twitter

What is the smartest thing you did in using twitter or the like to draw traffic to your website. How did you draw the most traffic? And how do "pick" followers?

You need to search for your target audience. It's simple to find people at least related to your niche with twitter. There is a search keywords in their names and descriptions. There is another search for keywords in their tweets. You can't ask for more then that to find targeted traffic.

Follow them and most will follow you back. Start building a relationship with these people by answering their questions about your niche. Once you have the trust, only takes about a month if you do it right, you can sell to them all the time. I get hundreds of viewers from twitter everyday to all my sites.

Social networking is all about building relationships. Like the name implies, it's networking. Gain friends and recommend them something you truly think can help them. You will always make money this way.

Well I am new on here but saw this and thought I would respond. Personally I am not that great with twitter but I know a lot of people who have been using this fairly new system (which by the way I am not involved in so I dont get paid for telling you this unfortunately Anyway, it's called Twittollower, you have to pay for it like anything but you never have to search for anyone if you use this. You can pick your target market and on auto pilot it will get those people to follow you and you follow them. They guarantee around 2000+ followers in a month if using this system. I have no idea how it works but it does.

    Hope it helps

Depends on the niche and how you're monetizing traffic. Whatever you do, don't go the SPAM way that's a quick road to nowhere.

Most important is to establish yourself as an authority with your followers (targeted followers). Twitter is becoming a place for info and news. Supply your followers with good niche-related info and news, and the occasional promote (again targeted, niche-related, and helpful) and you'll get good results on Twitter.

Just received an e-mail from one of my members who is promoting my Twitter Me This, and he found of all the vehicles he used he was getting best results on Twitter.

Looks like you are posting acutal video on your twitter page rather than a link to the video. Is that correct. Could you explain how that is done.

Seems like a really good way to build a relationship with your followers with out them leaving twitter

Twitter tools can help. Setting up automatic messages to new followers via social oomph has yielded a 10% conversion rate for me by offering free twitter training strategies to my new followers. You can have 10,000 followers and not get much traction if you are not building relationships though. You would probably do better with 50 real followers that value your advice than you would 10,000 who don't know who you are and don't see any value in following what you say, so make sure you are adding value. 90% value/10% promotion is a good ratio to follow.

I'm just testing twittollower at the moment, I'm still on the sidelines at the moment trying to decide whether it's worth the money

No point in having 2000 followers if you can't monetise them. and at the moment the system is $77 a month, which is an offer and I believe will be going up quite sharply.

Ok I think for a one off, but not sure how they can justify it as a monthly price.

Wow I didnt realise twittollower was $77 a month, is it working for you?
I tried it at the very start and didnt pay that much, I seemed to be getting a lot of followers but then I had to stop due to family loss so was no longer doing any promotion on there.

          1. follow people interested in your niche. The "add thousands of friends" scams just put useless numbers up. None of those people are interested in your product.

          2. Post quality content. Post things that are relevant to your audience's interest. This is not always links, it could be quotes, jokes or just about anything.

If you're looking for followers, nothing gets them faster than having good quality content people talk about.

          3. Re-tweet valuable things from respected sources. One way to become a respected source yourself is posting quality stuff. Retweet some of what the experts tweet to build your own credibility.

          4. Tweet about personal stuff sometimes. The more personal your page is, the more people will listen. If they think your Twitter feed is a huge marketing message, they'll ignore it.

          5. Interact with others, often. Build your network. Even if it's just 10 people, start building your network up and getting to know people. They'll refer you to others, and retweet your stuff. Relationships are crucial on Twitter.

          6. Don't post too many links, especially your own. If your twitter feed contains a bunch of links to your site, you'll be unfollowed quickly. Sprinkle your own link here and there, among others. Make sure it's something GREAT that others will retweet.

If you start thinking from the perspective of the people following you, and making your twitter feed something people really value your followers will show up in droves.

    Hi guys

I always searched for people to follow using twellow.com and still do that now. though if say im after people in the food niche - i will check out the lists for the top person in that niche and then follow those.

To get the most clicks by using a few keywords in a tweet can have the full impact or RT someone with those keywords will always work.

If you work in say make money online you could post a tweet that has make money online and work from home or business opportunity in the tweet and then you will have the traffic.

The big point though is to make sure you dont spam - dont send tweets with links out all day do some other ones too even if you are contributing to the trending topics.

    kind regards

The best way I've found to increase your twitter followers is to search and follow people sharing the same interests as you. You can follow up to 2000 people and between 40 - 60 pecent will follow you back. Once they start following you it's a good idea to post meaningful tweets and avoid posting spam.

I don't know how effective Twitter is. I think you have to be a chatty kind of person to be able to make it work, plus you need to find people who are actually interested in what you have to say and not just trying to sell their own stuff to you.

I made the mistake of following a lot of people in certain niche and then stopped when I found out I was pretty much wasting my time. I still get followers, but I don't follow anyone and I pretty much stopped using Twitter other than when EZA sends out their tweets when my articles are published.

At 2,000 people a ratio is implemented, so you can't follow more people until more people follow you. It's not a hard limit, you can follow tens of thousands of people, but you have to have that same amount of people following you.

I was pretty doubtful about Twitter until I came across a eBook by Paul O'Mahoney - very informative and helpful (it's out there somewhere). He recommends Buzzom and Social oomph. Anyhow (for once) I followed the recipe and quickly got 1000 targeted niche followers over the weekend. There were a fair few spammers, but a high number relevant people. I have found automated tweets useful but I'm careful with it, so as not to overwhelm.
Like all these things - get to know it, play with it, don't expect it to be THE answer...

In my experience, both as a marketer and someone who works with many twitter marketers, the answer is: No, they don't buy. Most of the time.

But they do spread your link, visit your site and tell others about your site. They put links to your site on their blogs, and they virally transmit your link in other areas.

Depending on what your goals are Twitter can be very useful. For direct sales it's kind of tough though.

You should search for your target audience following the niche of your sites.
When you have followed them, then what you should do is to try to communicate with them.
If they feel that you provide good and interesting information to them, then they may follow you too, which is a good way to gain more traffic to your sites gradually.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[1928366].message }}
  • Twitter and other social media sites are only as good as how effectively you use them. The trend thus far has been 'follow everyone' and 'they will follow you'. The problem with that is when you do this, you get lot of followers (quantity) with varied interests not the least interested in what you actually have to say. Twitter now has certain advanced search capabilities that allow you to exactly define your target follower audience (quality). This is really powerful. If you do this and engage those followers, then they are bound to not only follow you back but even carefully listen to what you have to say and share.

A note about getting followers. I found this comment on mashable that pretty much sums up what your potential followers on twitter are thinking:

I think we've all been getting lots of new followers that turn out to look more like companies than people. I don't follow them back.

I don't think that spam can become a problem in Twitter (as it currently is set up) because we all have the power to turn off anyone (or company) we like.

However, I hope that the rise of all these companies and bots doesn't make it harder for real people interested in engaging on Twitter to find friends who'll follow them back.

If I get a new follower and I see nothing but link dumping, auto-tweeting, or a lack of @'s, I'm not going to follow back. But if they look like a real person (a mix of thoughts, a few links, and conversation) I'll return the follow.
      Food for thought..

I've heard many different strategies, but the only one I thought that had any real effect on gaining you followers is posting useful content from your blog or someone else's blog.

The more useful content you have that's relevant to your niche, you'll start to get people following you on their own.

Like email list, you don't promote, promote, promote. People just smell spam.

It also helps if you converse with a few of your followers. It lets people know that you're talking to them and willing to respond.

So Twitter is like a real-time social book-marking site. You're throwing useful stuff out there, including your own blog posts or articles which leads to something profitable for you.

It doesn't hurt to throw in some current events or neat videos. It shouldn't be all business.

Search for others following or related to your niche.
Follow them and many will follow back.
Start by slowly sending out useful content..links to items of interest for the niche...blog posts, ideas, video links, news, etc.
Refer them to useful content on your blog.
    Have giveaways with special offers.
If you develop a relationship and trust, eventually you can start directing traffic and they will start retweeting your tweets..the key is make it useful!

The best way to market on Twitter is to not be an obvious marketer. You need a bufferzone between Twitter and your offerpages so the transit doesn't become too abrupt. Sending people directly from Twitter to a sales letter or a squeeze page is the kiss of death for your Twitter reputation.

Sending people directly from Twitter to an optin-page for a webinar is usually OK though and that is in effect a squeeze page :-)

This is very true. Twitter is an excellent tool for branding and building traffic, but direct sales are pretty tough. And if you post too much marketing stuff you'll get flagged for spam and deleted.

    2 Ways

    1. The old way - following then unfollow those who doesnt follow me back. Because you need a lot of followers so that many people can read your tweets.

    2. @mention and @replies - I prefer this one. Using @username, this way I can send tweets to thousands of people and they can read it even if they are not following me back.

And of course, automating the process.. Im just leaving my tool running overnight. Then check my sales in the morning.
