Hello everyone,

For someone to be successful in life they have to follow some l;aid down principle... Which automatically leads us to having a mentor... Every business man (Regardless of the type, whether online or offline) needs someone to look up to; someone to shape a business around.

    You asked a splendid question! Here's my answers: My role model is Mr Lee Kuan Yew ( the mentor minister of Singapore), but generally much as I wish to, he's not available for advice. My greatest mentor so far is my father, and the person I look up to for advice...well...again my father!

    Craig Desorcy of Make Money Online The Honest Way and a member of the Warrior Forum for all of the above. Now here's the why:

    1.) He saw something in me and lent a hand to me on my very first foray into eBook publishing without asking for anything in return.
    2.) He tells me when something's fishy and I need to watch my back.
    3.) He spoonfeeds me with great ideas I hadn't thought of.
    4.) He cares about my state of mind and if I'm off track, he gives me a swift kick in the ass to get me back.
    5.) He doesn't promote things just for money - he promotes what works, period.

    I don't have a very good mentor at all, but life must go on. At 24 this is a stumbling block but the system I have in place has everything I need to succeed it just would of been helpful to have my mentors techniques (which he brags about so much through autoresponders) to get traffic to my site.
    A huge learning curve and when I start getting the knowledge of internet marketing I am in a promise to myself that I will never leave my recruits floundering as it is a horrible and lonely experience.
    Anyone who is interested in starting their own business in whatever niche, one important research is on your future mentor, ask questions directly about the opportunity, products, marketing and how they progressed right from scratch.

      Michael Campbell

      Consistent, no BS and proven money earners who don't need to flood your inbox promoting every super duper, mega launch to earn money. They do what they teach and make money from it.

        Eben was / is DeAngelo? Really? Didn't know that. Wow, great. I haven't bought any of his stuff, but I was at a time really impressed by the whole PUA thing.

      I only listen to Frank Kern and his emails...no one else. Why? I like the guy, he lives the lifestyle I want, has the likable personality, works smart, and gives great free content in an easily digestible manner.

      Plus, he actually RESPONDED to a few emails at one time and I was shocked. That simple gesture won me over.

        The word Mentor gets thrown around quite a fair bit in the business world especially internet marketing. Sorry to be a geek but the word "mentor", if you do a word search actually means something like "A loyal teacher/coach/counselor/friend".

        I personally dont yet have someone im physically talking to and or seeing about my goals, aspirations and seeking insight from. But like most of us here, i read plenty of books, watch videos etc.

        A teacher can come in many forms...

        My favorite at the moment is Frank Kern. Simply because i like clean cut no BS no sugar coating teaching. And also the fact that he, like myself spends his days wearing flip flops and realizes that life is also about having fun and not just making money. Basically he is not an arrogant tosser and hes always trying to add humility to his programs. Adding to this i think he is one of the best copywriters and internet marketers out there today.

        One other big one which is from a totally different industry is the famous chef Gordon Ramsey. Again for the reason that he too does not sugar coat things and gets straight to the point, also a very funny guy. What i like most about Gordon is the fact that he understands his business so perfectly, its a marvel. A true professional.

        Meditation also is a great teacher, hoping not to intrude into peoples personal beliefs, but i really do get much from meditation. Just the simple process of sitting down taking some deep breathes and then letting it all flow. There are many different forms of meditation and many different things you can try to achieve through it. When you enter the vast corridors of your consciousness and bring back certain pieces of data its then you realize the true potential inside all human beings. The answers i believe are in all of us.

    the only way I've found success has been experimenting with things I didn't think existed, keeping what works, throwing out the rest, and doing it again.

    My greatest mentors are my students!

    We all think we know a lot (at what we do) then there comes a question which stumps you... if you're intelligent you jump aboard the opportunity to learn the answers to these questions, they make you wiser, then give you more wisdom and knowledge yourself.

    People at seminars always ask me "why are you so smart?"... "how do you know so much?".... I credit a LOT of what I do from the students I've taught, and the students of mine who teach me (each and every day).

    My mentor is research.

    Just by using a bit of assertion and elbow-grease, I can, over time, clearly see what is working best and what to do in regards to any target process.

    The internet makes this quite easy.

    Other than that, and faith references aside, I find that my most influential "mentors" haven't been a specific person - or words that someone has said.

    No, it's the collaborative effect of watching people ACT when they're confronted with real life shit.

    Whatever it may be.

    You find out real quick what someone's real colors are when they're looking down the barrel of a loaded, figurative, gun in life.

    I've seen a few people crumble that were highly-esteemed previously, and I've also seen surprisngly "non-esteemed" people display incredible intuition, intelligence and integrity.

    And vice versa.

    So...

    I guess my mentor is LIFE.

    At any given time, an individual role-model or "celebrity" WILL fail you. Or at least your standards of what they should live up to. Because they're human.

    This is why it's important to know what YOUR ideals, YOUR values and YOUR goals really are.

    Then you can take a little here, a little there and so on from a VARIETY of people and experiences so that in the end...

    ...you can live a full life that makes you happy.

    And hopefully you die in your sleep.

        I don't have a personal mentor but I have learned a great deal from Kevin Riley. And when you take one of his lab courses he always seems to take the time to answer your questions, and I have had some ignorant ones.

        Lisa, the administrator of Website Babble is another who is just so giving with go advice.

        I have also been lucky to run into folks who are willing to share their experiences and insights with me, so this group are somewhat like mentors. I shall always try to return the favor whenever the occasion arise.

    I am a big fan of Jimmy D. Brown!

    I've learned a lot from him and still learning. I study almost all of his products and making myself to stick to his style. Here are couple of reasons why I love Jimmy so much:

    1. He is really the expert and he teaches you how to be the one. When I say this, I mean he is only sharing based on his experiences. He really had gone through all of them before he shared in his products. He is the guy that practises what he preaches. Jimmy likes writing so he is not going to outsource his writing so you are guarantee to have all his writing done by himself, not by outsourcing or get from PLR.

    2. He has the talent of making complex stuffs into simple breakdown. Seriously I can't really read those "big collection" type of ebook. I mean it is good that you are providing me with bonuses but I don't have the time to read them all. I just want to know ONE thing and tell me how to get there. Jimmy is very good at producing small reports and they are what I want. In his report, you just have to learn THAT thing and that's it. You no need to spend too much time on bothering those unnecessary information. This is one of the ways that I avoiding myself from information overload. Whenever I feel that I need to learn something, I will look up for Jimmy's products. If he is not providing it then I look around for other resources.

    3. Jimmy doesn't usually promote other people products. I seldom receive Jimmy's email and the time you receive his email, it is the time he is telling you that he is going to launch another new product or he got something special for you.

    4. He is great at brainstorming and gives out new ideas. He is good at making new ideas and those ideas are the one that you can learn from observing what he doing (without paying him). There are many marketers out there also have very great ideas but in order to replicate or model what they are doing, you may need large resources and put in plenty of time and money. At least for Jimmy, it is possible for me to actually learn his way with little cost.

    5. Jimmy is a systematic and productive guy. He has his own system of doing business and he is teaching us how to do that. For example, by studying his "Small Report Big Fortune", you are not only learning how to create small reports but also the whole profiting system that can be brought by them. And if you are studying his other products again, they are actually inter-connected to each other. In the other words, if you are able to notice this system and copy it, you can really live with 6-figures like what he did.

    Other than Jimmy, I like Ewen Chia too. He is also the guy that has lots of new marketing idea and inspired me a lot. He was once distributing his video newsletter but I am wondering why he stopped that. It was actually quite a good idea by incorporating video into ebook.

    Apparently there are many great internet marketers out there and they are teaching great stuffs. I just feel that those are too complicated for me to learn and apply especially when I started with low capital and little resources. Anyway it is a fun thing to observe the market.

If not, make something different so that you can enjoy them. I don't want big company, many staffs under me, which I will probably ended up in a "busy" life that I don't have time to enjoy my life. I step into internet business because I want to earn more "time" but not more and more "money". I just want to have enough money (not a lot of money) every month, every year to live my life.

    or regard as my mentor。

    Confucius said: "When three men are walking together,
    there is one who can be my teacher."

    I believe that we can learn from everyone regardless of
    who they are and what their skills are. It's too limiting
    and irrational if you hold only one or two people in high
    regard and value EVERYTHING they say over others.

    Keep an open mind and see everyone as a potential
    teacher in some way.

    My brother has been and is my greatest mentor as he's literally been an example of the type of person I aspire to be so many times and in so many situations that I really couldn't think of him any more highly than I now do and I can't imagine anyone ever taking the spot.

    For IM, I don't consider anyone a mentor. I love talking with John Taylor and Martin Avis and consider them both friends and I like quite a few people who are considered Gurus and that I've met but I wouldn't say I learned a lot from them but was inspired by them, so not sure where that falls in the scheme of things.

    The people I really get a buzz from are the newcomers to IM who have just started and have 1000% of enthusiasm for creating success for themselves. Not the lazy ones just looking for an easy answer, but the people who don't consider hard work as an obstacle and just need pointing in the right direction, like a loaded gun. If everyone had such a mindset there'd be a lot more success.

    Some people are talking about mentors, others talking aobut people they look up to, which is different.

    As far as who I model, probably a little bit from everyone.

    And I do not have a mentor, but sure it would help.

    A mentor is not necessary, but will definetly help you achieve results faster, provided you go with the right mentor. The question is, do you want to achieve success slow, faster, or at all?

    If you want faster success and have the means to do so, get a good mentor, they will help you.

    I've met many millionaires and have personal friends with millions and they all had mentors or coahces.

    The average person won't even succeed in business , let alone make millions, so mentors can be beneficial.

    And an alternative to a coach or mentor, is to set up a mastermind, which is free

    Before Napoleon the usual strategy was to show the way, to lead the army and constantly look backwards to see how the soldiers were faring.

    pleasant and unpleasant experience.

    I enjoy learning from my mentor is
    Michael Silvester of Warrior Forum
    and I enjoy chatting with Jeremy Kelsall. These
    two are my best friends in IM and I certainly learnt
    alot from them and they always gave me advice
    to bring my business to the next level.

    As for my unpleasant experience, I used to
    have mentors who charged me alot and not
    bothering with me, no matter how many
    times I email, call, msn. (Just too busy to
    bother about us students, as compared
    to other higher priority matters such
    as running their businesses)

    I spent most of the time self-study
    and reading posts off the Warrior Forum.

    I love Andy Henry's posts the post and he
    always present from a different perspective.

    That is all you need. With research you figure out what works and what should work. Clients provide the feedback on how to improve it and how you can take your business even further.

    My clients, especially those from my coaching program have taught me a lot, they make you see everything from a different perspective and their beginner insights could quite surprise you.

    Some of the best ideas I've ever heard come from people who have been doing IM for 1-2 months.

    as for internet guys... Old man Dr. Wilson from way way way back in the early days of Wilsonweb.com... even before Cory Rudl. Incidently, I found my way back to his site recently! Wilson is actually still around! Wilson was building very terrible looking, mostly text HTML websites for people in like 1993, and making a killing at it. I owe my entire career to him. I'd be still be stuck in some dungeon coding some RPG crap on AS/400s if it weren't for him.

    hell if we're going back that far... Mark Tittle... none of you ever heard of him. He was a kid I was friends with in high school who taught me how to put together a Wildcat-based BBS dial-in bulletin board system and build it to a few hundred monthly subscribers.

      Without a doubt, as an Internet Marketing Mentor, John Delavera and his Turbo Membership is at the top of the list. John became my mentor early on after I cracked his "Delaverian Code" as I saw in so doing, his depth and meaning in his approach. As I became his mentoree in my "newbie" phase, John took me by the hand, spoon-fed me with his knowledge and brought me along step by step. I then joined his Turbo Membership and in that membership, I met people who provided me with answers to my sometime menial questions and helped me with understanding the answer, not in just asking the question. In that membership, I have made lasting friendships that I daily associate with, gaining more and more knowledge daily.     My mentor is Dean Holland at the Starting with Marketing Academy.

    As you can see on my blog I have started to see some amazing results within 4 weeks. I have got my blog up and running and I have had 350 visits to my site.

    To position yourself online the fas track way is to get a mentor, I highly recommend it. Without mine I would be very much still directionless. Testing a million things but never focusing on the one right one.

    Dean is making five figure sums 8 months after his coaching from his Mentor Alex Jeffreys. This is something I truly aspire and look up too.

    Get a mentor people they are priceless!

    I don't have a Mentor per se.. I have learnt business myself - Done every bit of research, learnt through trial and error and I have had success in my business so far. However, this year, I started some new online ventures and things are not too bad. I have been following Kevin Riley's posts,TimG's posts and they are simply awesome. Have gained a lot. To me they are my true mentors.

      The only mentor I every had and needed was my farther. His next birthday will be his 86th and still kicking, but I also spend a lot of time reading Clayton MakePeace.

    Amen to that.

    A couple I really look up to are Glenn Livingston & Perry Marshall; both PPC gurus. I manage a couple Adwords accounts for doctors, so they have been more than useful there.
    As to IM, I have an unknown for a coach/mentor. He makes stupid money and only coaches for the fun of it. He maintains low profile, so I am not posting any links to him. (He is picky who he works with).
    As to IM Gurus, I like GKIC (DanKennedy.com), Frank Kern & a few others when they are not in 'sell mode'. Lol

    My mentor is life. If you aren't learning you aren't living.

    I don't look up to anyone...because ultimately that ends in failure - for me anyway.

    The only person I look to for advice is my boyfriend and that's only to clarify and voice my own opinions and ideas.

    Generally I would consider my 2 year old my role model. I get to learn exactly how us humans really work, learn and solve issues - without having our enthusiasm and love of learning sapped from us through regimentation like the education/work system etc etc. I want to be like him.

      He's not really my mentor, but there is one guy I admire enormously, and have learned a ton of great and challenging stuff from when it comes to marketing and entreprenuerial creativity. I'm sure most Warriors have heard of Jay Abraham, and he has provided me with more exciting and challenging ideas, as well as nuts and bolts how-to info than anyone.

      Another guy who I've found enormously inspirational is Allan Says, of this forum.

      Other than that, there are quite a few that I think are sensational marketers on this very forum, and I have to say the WF is my #1 resource for IM education.

    Not sure mentor is the right verbiage as I tend to associate that with somebody you're working with 1 on 1, however for my money Ryan Deis churns out stuff that works, plain and simple.

    He doesn't come out with that much in real terms but what he does do is quality, and it's tested to hell and back.

    If I was actually going to pay any of the IM guys to mentor me, in terms of the guru types it would be Ryan.

    That said, there's a number of very private guys, often under 20, making millions out there with techniques they keep to themselves that they have tweaked the living crap out of and driven multiple traffic sources to .

    These guys and I know one well , although only very knowledgable in one specific area are likely to be able to bring you greater success in that specific area than all the guru types put together.

    I also find myself kicking myself up the ass to put some more hours in when I see some absolute newbie make what in reality is a small sum of money but who has more tenacity and will to succeed than all the moaners and "this is to hard" crew put together.

    I find myself heavily "mentored" by those that just get on and do something.

    My biggest life mentor is my 2 year old little girl, I doubt anything else in life has made me a better person.

    my greatest mentor was Mark Evans -- not in the IM field, but here's why (and what you should look for in a mentor): he's of course walked the path before me but most critically: he points out the flaws in my thinking and my plans. He asks all those really uncomfortable questions that I hope will go away if I don't look.

    so, although many of the IM gurus mentioned here are awesome in terms "having been there and done it", unless you have a great personal relationship with them and they don't kick you in the butt/hold up that shiny mirror that shows every single flaw in your plan of attack, then my suggestion is to find yourself who's just a step or two above you but willing to be the critical voice.

    nothing will see you progress faster

    I learned the most from Life... specifically "ADVERSITY" and by taking focused "ACTION".

    There have been some individuals that have really made a difference in my business though... they are (in no particular order):

    - Tony Robbins: about mindset and taking massive action
    - Frank Kern: taught me a lot about how to communicate with peeps and just have fun
    - Eben Pagan: about moving the free line
    - Brent Hall / Andre Chaperon: Their products have made a BIG impact on how I run my biz

    There are five major people I've been watching and studying for a long time, and learning a lot from it. None of them have been actively engaged to coach or mentor me... they're just people I watch. I buy their products, I read their stuff, and I reverse-engineer pretty much everything they do to see how it works.

    - John Alanis
    - Kevin Thompson
    - Robert Plank

    The bottom three are my "watch list" - Jeff Czyzewski used to be #5 on the list, but he's slipped to something more like #8 or #9... not because he did anything wrong, but because Robert did something that caught my attention.

    Below #5, everything gets sort of jumbled up anyway, and it's hard to rank them. Lance Tamashiro is on the list, Steven Wagenheim, Jeremy Kelsall is trying to sneak in there, Joseph Ratliff... it's a big list. But it's those top five who are really responsible for most of what I learn.

    Although I have never met him, I count Jim Rohn as my mentor. I have listened to his recording and read his books.

    He presents life in an easy to understand way. I also like the fact that he also grew up on a farm and went on to become hugely successful.
