Social bookmarking - manual vs automated?

6 replies
Hi there,

I am planning to submit my website/blog pages into various social bookmarking sites.. i am confused if i should go for paid services like bookmarking daemon or stay with manual ones...

cons of automated ones (according to my knowledge):
  • chances of getting accounts banned
  • looks spammy
  • can't use different keywords , uses same keywords everywhere..
let me know your views...

    Automated submitters are fine as long as they load up in a real web browser. The ones that "robot" submit are more susceptible to banning.

    It only looks spammy if you make it look spammy. Automated submitters aren't going to affect the content you use in the description.

    I don't think you would want to spend time submitting "manually" to some 200+ social bookmarking sites! Its better to go for a semi-automated tool such as Social bookmarking services poster and community websites submitter: digg.com reddit.com netscape.com propeller.com Del.icio.us Stumbleupon.com etc. for example.

    It looks spammy only if you spam the sites ... Do it properly and it does not matter if it is automated or not .. Search engines sure does not know...

    Just boils down to ... time or money, which one do you want to spend ?

    Sharethis widget got me banned for newvine. All i did is bookmarked some sites related to IM (not mine). I use onlywire for my submission now and it works most of the time.

    Got to be slow and throw in websites that are clearly NOT yours. Like video games, look up a video game review and then do a mass bookmark submission on that.

    My rule of thumb: only 3-5 mass book mark submissions per day. If you start submitting more and they are all articles with YOUR name on them, you're bound to raise a few eye brows.
