Where to start?? Newbie bootcamp

Hi there,

I'm extremely new to internet marketing (about 2 hours) & haven't a clue where to begin! I read the entire "war warriors" thread, which took hours... and quite a few posts from in here. The problem is, I can't seem to find where to begin actually "learning" about IM. There are tonnes of posts on how to make x amount of $$ using articles etc., but they contain numerous references to foreign terminology such as "backlinking", "web 2.0" (?+*%?). Where can I go to learn the "meat & potatoes" of IM, i.e. methods, terminology and everything else? My apologies if I have completely overlooked the "idiots section" of the site. I am just very excited to begin and don't want to drown in the process!

Cheers,
Michelle

I actually started a blog called newbie bootcamp, I would not say it is great yet, but you can look at some of the beginner ideas I put up. The idea was to put a few ideas to get people started and combat information overload.

Hi Michelle, and welcome to the forum.

There actually isn't an "idiots section", and by just coming out and asking the question you've already proven that you aren't one!

One area that may be a good reference are the "All in One" threads, these are collections of posts about specific aspects of Internet Marketing. You can find them here:

WarriorForum - Internet Marketing Forums - Threads Tagged with allinone

There are also a number of free e-books in this section, some of which may be useful:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/make-money-online/

Just a disclaimer though, use sound judgement with all of them as many of them are promotional. But within this section you will find some gems.

Also there is the Warrior Special Offers (WSO) section where you will find some packages that could be useful in getting started.

    Warrior Special Offers Forum

    Again the same caveat applies.

With both the above sections reading the comments posted by other Warriors can be helpful in separating the great stuff from the weak stuff.

And learn to use the Search facilities in the forum when you find a term you don't understand.

And if all else fails just ask! You'll find this to be a community where people are happy to help.

Best of success with your IM ventures!

    Bill

      I second that.

      Michelle,

do yourself a favor and stop browsing through the forum, you will only get overwhelmed and waste valuable time.

Head over to the 30 day challenge and follow through. You will learn everything about Internet Marketing that you need to get started and you'll be ahead of most marketers out there.

The info is presented in easy to implement junks and the teachers are some of the greatest marketers out there.

Go through the content, implement what you learn and you can be up and running with your own site, decent keywords and a great understanding of Internet Marketing within 14 days.

      Cheers,
      Mario

It is great to see that you are here, this is a great place to start and keep getting great information.. and products (wso's) to help you with your online ventures..

I would also suggest if you can you should take a look at joining a good membership site, if you join a great membership site they can take out the difficult early stages of working out which direction for you to head in..

      some great membership sites are..

      turbomembership.com
      chrisfarrell membership.com

these are two sites that i have a membership at, i am a member at a couple more, but these are two are the best for those new to IM..

      Good Luck.

I didn't want to quote the whole post so I left in the top paragraph so you know I am referring to you .

All though a good list, I would personally change the order of some of them, that is just waaay to complicated for a newbie to follow ... That would give them some serious information overload and they would be screaming and slamming there heads against the desk .

To the OP, thirty day challenge as stated above is the place to start.

Yeah, just wanted to show others ("newbies") how in my opinion and experience difficult this medium's to operate in and how much time and other resources they'd be spending constantly improving themselves in the process.

In my opinion and experience, Internet marketing isn't a "plain and simple" "numbers game" or any "game" for that matter. It's building business and marketing plans, requiring business and marketing logic and creativity, specialized expertise, resources, action plans, implementation methods, etc.

The list above's customized for me based on my expertise, tests, results and experience. It could most likely be further customized to, with the "highest" probabilities, best suit a "newbie" or "veteran", but it may or may not produce the same or even similar results.

Probably something to think about: what could custom software, running 24 hours/day, connected to the Internet 24 hours/day, installed in a "heavy duty" server, do for your research, business, marketing and implementation campaigns?

Probably another thing to think about: what could a person with substantial knowledge, experience and expertise in every item of the list above do for your research, business, marketing and implementation campaigns?

Probably something to think about for those who believe they could follow a step-by-step plan and have their business and marketing campaigns running in autopilot, earning them loads of money while doing nothing:

===> what did Walt Disney, Elvis, the Beatles, Oprah, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Ford, guy who invented Coke, Google guys, Facebook guy, YouTube guys, guy who invented superglue, guys who'll be inventing cure for cancer, AIDS and permanent disabilities, etc., do (or are doing) to have them come to a point in their lives (or deaths) doing "nothing" while earning loads of money?

I think the best way to start is to flip websites. Another way to start is to be a freelancer to others and generate some money to buy coaching courses.

    Hi Michelle

I coach people one to one in making money on the internet. There is one substantial difference that I offer.......I charge $1000 for one to one coaching but you don't have to pay! Here's how it works:

I take groups of five people, never more than this because I don't have the time. I provide coaching on making money on the internet until the student learns enough to make it on their own or decides to quit. Occasionally I stop teaching someone if its clear they don't want to put in the work to be successful. I have no time for dreamers, whiners or get rich quick merchants.

YOU decide not only when you pay but also IF you pay based on what you have learnt.

So....I don't show screenshots of how much I earn (easily faked - I can make a screenshot showing any figure I want) Instead I show people how to make money on the internet. Think about it....what is such knowledge worth to you?

When and only when you decide its worth $1000 do you make payment. If you never think its worth it then you never pay. Hows that for confidence?

I am about to take the first 5 students - let me know if its something that interests you! If I get more than 5 applicants then I will select the 5 that I judge the most likely to succeed based on what they tell me about why they want to be a student.

    regards
    Colin

    Hey Michelle,

Best peice of advice I ever got was to look into everything at the top level. Find out what it's all about at a basic level and then specialise in about 2 areas. There's so much to IM that it can be very overwhelming.

Once you find something you think you can do stick at it until you become an expert don't flitter from one to another to another.

    Welcome aboard and good luck
