You can't drive? But can you market?

My 14 year old son has been peeking over my shoulder as I read posts on this awesome forum!

He was asking what it was about and why I spend sooo much time here.

After explaining my take on internet marketing and some of the ways money could be made, he decided it might just beat flipping burgers or mowing grass.

I am curious if there are any warriors out there that are:

Into affiliate marketing or whatever and are in the 14 to 17 year old range?

What types of ventures are you successful with?

Would you be willing to offer him some guidance on getting started?

Let me know, PM me if he could e-mail you a question or two, or???

I would love to see him be successful at this as it would be a great way for a kid to make some cash and I truly believe it would be a wonderful lifelong industry.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Matt

I would love to get some info, too, about this subject. I am already helping my son and daughter getting started with blogging (using John Yeo's WSO to get them on the right track ), but I would love to hear about other things that teens do.

When I was 14 I believe all I could do to make money is do paid offers and click ads for $0.000001 a piece
Started doing real stuff when I was 16(Still didn't made money).
At the age of 17 I made a BUNCH OF MONEY with a sports betting system and was betting with fake id's & stuff. Worked fine until there was no more money to be made and I settled down to create a real business at the age of 18

In reality the mechanics are easy- set up wordpress and start blogging about a topic. Plug in some affiliate links, some reviews and some adsense.

Best advice I can give to a 14 yr old is to start a website for the enjoyment of having it. Don't focus on making it building a money making website from the start. Learn the basics of the business and grow on that. Something that he and his friends are interested in, this way he can develop it as a hobbie. At 14 running a business will get boring and will lose interest quickly.

      Great point!

It really drove home the point of doing this when I told him of an affiliate program for a snowboard shop that he had sent a friend to that ended up buying $600 worth of gear.... "thats sixty bucks I could have made, just for helping a friend?" Yep. He loves snowboarding, he has friends, that IS affiliate marketing!

          Hi Matt,

Congrats to your kid. To giving exact advice is not simple, because you know your kid the best, and no someone else. If you observed that he has an entrepreneural mindset then may be good to teach him the basics.

Another idea is that you may ask Stanley Tang (he is a 15 year old Warrior with serious success) probably he also can give you some useful advice.

          Many successes,

          Sandor
