Parked Domain - Am I Wasting My Time?

I have some domain names I have bought and that I am planning to develop at some point. They are not getting much traffic as most of them are new and as not been optimised for search engines at all. Some of the domain names that where getting some visitors, I have moved them from one domain parking provider to an other to see which one would work best, I have used Google, godaddy and sedo. Changing them around has not made much difference in revenue as overall traffic to them is quite insignificant.

Recently I did some link building for a domain I was planning to develop next, so traffic did increase a little bit and so did the revenue and it got me curious, how war I can take parked domain.

So I did some more link building but it did not help the rankings in the search engines. So I was thinking that the problem was that the parked domains have no content on them just advertisement but search engines like content.

So I did little more searching and I discoed Why Park. It looked like a good place to park my domains as they would put about hundred pages of relevant content on them and that should get search engines to notice it.

It took me 10 minutes to get domain set up with content on it and optimised for keywords. I did also added some affiliate links and even a Google adsence. I also added rss feed with the relevant content from my other website so it looks quite good now and compared to other parking page it does not even look like parked domain at all.

One of the domain I have been experimenting with is securityindustry.info

So my question is, if anybody have had any luck getting WhyPark page ranked high or am I just wasting my time. As in theory I should be able to get it ranked at some level as I have used all the relevant keywords, built some links and It has constantly changing relevant content on it. Or will Google just say that this domain is parked and we will not bother with it at all.

I was really surprised while surfing the net the other day to find one very popular highly searched keyword phrase directed to a parked domain. And another keyphrase with a parked domain in a high position. I do not think they had recently been changed either.

I was under the impression that you had to have highly searched (typed in terms) to
get traffic. But I have one domain with an unusual name that is parked and it gets quite a few hits and has had clicks. So I don't know what the deal is with the parking.

It sure would be a cool way to make some easy money if it actually worked.

Exactly what I was thinking that maybe I can make some money without developing the domain.

I don't park my domain names because to me, domain parking is not worth it. If I were you, I will spend some money to get some articles written, put up a review page on the domain names ( depending on the niche ) and submit some articles to article directories and then sell off the site for profit.

That way, you will make more money than parking it.

I'll park domains sometimes just to see what happens (when I'm waiting time to do something with them).

But if one of them starts getting decent traffic - I pull that off park and get a site on it!

That is what I was planning to do as well, develop it, get some content on it and add some affiliate links and adsence on it.

But as it is parked now and has about hundred pages of relevant content on it and I have added affiliate links and adsence on it as well, so it basically already has everything that I was planning to do with it and even more as I don't think I would have but so much content on it.

Also I have added all the keywords and meta description as well. To pull it out and develop it would take some time and I do not think I would do a better job.

So that is my dilemma, why should I develop it if it has everything already on it I that I was planning to put there myself.

Normally parked domain will gives you the lowest earning per visitor, and I never had any luck with parked domain, may be I just didn't put enough effort into it.

Yes you are right, most of the domain parking providers pay really little for a click, that is why I added adsence on it plus some of my affiliate baners.
