Ok quick question for someone. If, for example, the keyword: lampshade recieves 1000 exact searches per month does that mean that there were 1000 searches were done as "lampshade" including quotes? Or does it just mean that 1000 searches were done for the word lampshade and not lamp shade or lamp-shade? The other two types of searches are broad and phrase, if anyone could explain these two as well that would be great.

I think quotes come into play when you have two or more words for a phrase.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Yeh its important to pick your keywords from exact search. This can be done in Googles adword tool by changing to exact search.

It means someone typed lampshade into the search box rather than some other choice of word or words.

I learned the meaning from Noble Samurai Training, they use the example keyword "trout fishing" to explain the different match-types:

Exact Match: How many people are searching for the exact term "trout fishing" and then visiting the top ranked website (the 1st result in Google).

Phrase Match: How many people are searching for a phrase containing the words "trout fishing" in this word order. For example: trout fishing, trout fishing tips, rods for trout fishing, New Zealand trout fishing vacations.

Broad Match: How many people are searching for a phrase containing the words "trout" and "fishing" in any word order. For example: trout fishing, trout fishing tips, fly fishing for trout, fishing for trout from a boat.

Also, the three match-types also can be used to see the future of a given market. Exact match shows you short term traffic potential, phrase match shows you midterm traffic potential, and broad match shows you long term traffic potential.

This has to do with becoming an authority site, which takes time, and only authority sites rank in the top 10 for competitive, broad match keywords.

Also, double quote marks simply means exact match, it has nothing to do with the number of words. Can be a single excact match for a keyword, or a long-tail keyword phrase.
