My Landing Page Is A Trampoline!

The bounce rate is crazy - in a bad way.

Its relatively new and there are less than 150 visits so maybe I'm jumping on the bummer train too early. But I'd rather tweek it (or overhaul it) sooner rather than later.

Please. Be honest ... any constructive suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    Hi Adam,

With only 150 visits it is kinda early to tell any real stats from. However, I went to the page and here are a few pointers:

    1. The video did not play and I was just presented with a big blank rectangle and I can usually see FLV's easily.

    2. All the calls to action are below the fold so I have no idea what I just landed on

    3. Make the video slightly smaller and have some bullet points (5 max) above the fold to show the main benefits and if possible have the "Signup Form" above the fold too.

You would be much better off that way and your conversions will be much higher.

    All the best

    Sean

Well, the video did play for me. I was using IE 8.

You can try put the opt-in form to the right of the video. And yes a shorter, to the point video should have done better. You can also change the heading color to something more appealing (red is typical but effective) and see if it helps.

Adam, you have a funny headline for your discussion here. That got my attention.

Unfortunately, I don't think your headline for the site works as well.

I would put who it's for first, then the problem and why you can empathize, then the news. The situation feels desperate. You need to explain why there is reason for hope. Here are some ideas:

Parents of children who suffer from cruel schoolyard bullies... (etc)
Does the situation seem hopeless? It can seem that way... (etc)
But hope of peace and confidence in your child's life is not just a dream. I've helped over 238 kids END bullying, harassment, being picked on -- once and for all.

Kids put into this situation need three types of help. Unfortunately, most parents don't know how to provide more than one or two kinds of help.
Kids need personal development to build their confidence.
They need to understand psychological tactics of bullying, so they don't get pulled into a cycle of verbal abuse. They need to know how to expose the lies and injustice immediately to deflate and expose the bullies.
And when that's not enough... they need to know how to kick the bully's little snot-nosed ass. Yes, that means some basic skills of martial arts for physical self-defense.

I have a FREE report that is immediately available for you to read. I also want to keep you updated on news and research that helps parents develop kids strong in their ability to stand up for what's right. Along the way, I'll also tel you about some additional resources that may be useful.

    Does that help?

  • thank you, everyone. this is exactly the kind of feedback i'd been hoping for.

within a week or so, I hope to change the 'report' to a free video lesson - which would really increase the value

what else would make it better?

  • I added the video as a credibility element - anyone can make claims so I thought it import to distinguish myself by showing that I've been teaching for decades.

Bounce rate could also be highly to where you are getting your traffic from. If you aren't qualifying your viewers, then they won't be interested and just "bounce".

I haven't gone through the rest of the posts in the thread because I'm in a hurry. So, I'm not sure if that was said.

I would make your video size smaller so you can put your optin form beside it, as you need it above the fold...

      1. The whole page is too dark - your header gets lost in the background.

      2. A lot of people don't like auto-play videos, so they just bounce out.

      3. Think about testing a two-column presentation, with the video (sized smaller) on the left and your opt-in form with a few short bullets on the right, all above the fold.

      4. Work on your headline - it's only job is to capture interest in going further (either filling in the form, or watching the video and THEN filling in the form). Don't try to sell the whole enchilada on the squeeze page.

I'm not going to lie. The product seems like a goofy concept. You're going to REALLY need to tellthem why getting this online course/ebook is better than getting personal counseling. Getting an online book to solve your kid's bullying problem isn't what most people consider a solution. Tell them right in their face (aka in red bullet points above the fold) how your product is the best solution to their problem.

Your traffic also needs to be extremely targeted. Like REALLY laser focused traffic, or else they will automatically bounce off that brand new trampoline.

  • "Goofy Concept"?

I think sugar free cookies are ridiculous. But then again, I don't have diabetes. You never really understand how serious a problem is until you own it.

Will this product fly? I don't know. There certainly is a need (and for a very targeted segment of the population, a desperate need). The advice of most "experts" in this field is horrendous.

If it turns out that those who need this course are content to sit back and expect the schools or police or legislators to fix their kids problem, this project will fail. Ultimately, the market decides, right?
