A Frothy Beer and A Purple Cow

INTERNET MARKETING

Yes, I'm drinking a beer.

And I'm wondering if any of you have read/heard about/have a review of Seth Godin's Purple Cow book....Copyright 2002.

I know I'm a little new to all this stuff, so pardon me if I'm way outta' the loop. I just came across it in research and thought it sounded interesting. I know you all stay up on the marketing thing. Just a bit, anyway.

Cheers,

The Semi-Naked Lady.

Short, but great book. Purple cow basically means creating something remarkable i.e. something worth making a remark about. That way, your product will have good word-of-mouth. That's the basic idea behind purple cow.

  Thanks guys!

It looked like a fairly easy to grasp concept, one I identify with already, so that's good info.

I haven't ready anything by him, so I figured I'd pick it up on Amazon and give it a spin.

I've not read the book - but, there's a great talk on TED where he talks about branding, and purple cows...

Seth's stuff is great. It's a constant reminder that the old mass marketing strategies just don't work any more. What's important is building something truely remarkable.

Purple is my favorite color... no wonder I like Seth's writing so much!

I particularly liked this, as it really struck a chord with me:

No flitting, no waiting for proof. Just consistent, overwhelming performance in pursuit of a vision you believe in. That's far more important than which direction you chose in the first place.

From his post here:
Seth's Blog: 'Where to' might not be as important as 'how loud'
