I'm a newbie looking for a market

Does anyone out there have a link that i can check out that will show me how popular a keyword is?

I'm aware of the google keyword search and other various free urls.

I was given one googleeasysearch.com but it just takes me to the free google keyword tool.

Thanks for your help.

on a related note, does anyone have a link where I can find the most popular shopping searches on Google? If I look for the most popular searches, I get lists of Olympic athletes, for example.

    Thanks,
    Sheryl

    Thanks for the suggestions.
I am a successful ecommerce product marketer trying my hand at affiliate marketing...but I'm having trouble with product selection and conflicting advice.

I know the importance of keyword research and SEO optimization, but one mentor tells me to look for niche products with over 300 searches/month and one says over 3000 searches. One says look for limited (<5000) competitors, the other says number of competitors doesn't matter as long as you can beat it. One says, stay away from hot markets (like dieting), the other says, go for it.

I think I can do the promotion if I can choose the product. What is the consensus here and guidance here? I really value the resource here in the forum.

    Thanks,
    Sheryl

Popular keywords are not always buying keywords. What ever you do you will have to test.

I've just written a few hubpages on various subjects, then plugged them into Google Analytics. Already I'm getting some great keywords ideas.

Another thing I'm doing is looking through the Amazon top sellers for products I can write about. I'm also trying to build my ecommerce themed hubs in a similar niche so I can crosslink them to each other.

One thing about keywords that helps me. Is remember that people are here looking for information. So if you put the (How to) in front of your key word chances are you will get the traffic on people looking to learn how to do something. A Crazy example - My Key Word is (Pork Chop) - So If I Put (How to Make Pork Chops) or (How to Make A Better Pork Chop) I will probably get that traffic of The Pork Chop people. So try the (How To) in your market. Kinda Basic, but Hope this helps

Think of a niche where people buy new products all the time to keep themself satisfied.

Golf clubs, sneakers, internet marketing, fishing, fashion, collector items and probably many more.

If a customer can buy from you several times during a year, you do not need that many searches. You only need to find a few 1000 who are spending $100 a month in your niche and always show them something cool that they would like. Keep connected with them through email. facebook, twitter and rss.
