We get visitors every day from Yahoo answers. People ask questions about our product or about a problem that our product would solve. If I see the question, I'll answer it with a link and often someone else puts in our link. I try to answer the question honestly and not in an ad-like manner, which ultimately makes you a reputable person trying to help.

I try to check in regularly and look for questions in my niches.

We use Yahoo Answers in 2 ways...

      1. To get traffic, we answer questions that are relevant to our topic area - there are way too many for us to answer, so we usually pick just a couple each week. I typically try and link back to some content we have already developed, or in some cases, develop along with the Yahoo Answer, so we get anyone interested in the answer back to our websites. The trick is that to get top rating the content must be good, and your link must be content-rich, relevant and useful. Sometimes it could simply be a listing of further resources you post on your blog, that way you can bring people back to your blog.

      2. We use Yahoo Answers for product ideas, testing niche topics and even pulling some unique angles for possible approaches and positioning within new markets. It's a great tool for brainstorming new ideas, uncovering gems that you may not have thought of before when creating your own information-based products.

IMO I've found it to be a pretty decent source of traffic, especially for my travel sites. Generally these are people with specific problems - if you have a product/service/website that can help answer the question, there's no reason for the traffic to not convert.

      Domination,

If you're not converting by posting on Yahoo Answers, are you sure you're delivering the right message? And how well do your landing page convert on it's own?

Afam and others who wonder about using Yahoo Answers as a niche market and info product reserach tool, I've recently produced a video for our private site that I just made publicly available for a few days...

In this video, I walk through an example of how to pull a topic and related info product topics and content outline that can turn you into an instant information publisher.

You can watch it here (no strings - completely open to view)

Just take care for not getting banned.
Link to the blog and not the sales page.
Don't post same answers for same type of questions.

Have you ever searched for something in the Yahoo search engine? Then chances are, a Yahoo! Answers page has come up (happens in Google, too). Search engines seem to like these pages.

That means that in a sense you can use YA the way you use article directories -- by getting ranked for certain keywords.

As others have mentioned, your answer needs to be thoughtful, content-rich, and you need to link back to your own site. Speed helps. If you're one of the first to post a thoughtful answer to a question, you stand a better chance of having your answer chosen as the best answer (which gives you more exposure). Otherwise, if your answer is one of a few dozen, you likely just have a "me too" answer.

            Cheers,
            Becky

As in you gave an (hopefully) insightful answer, then a link to your blog itself
or your blog article? I might've done something wrong that time, but my reply
to one question got deleted or so, and I've never really gotten answer to help
              me understand what went wrong.

    1.What actual is Yahoo! Answers?

Yahoo Answers is only the current holder of the most visited site on the web according to Alexa. To be brief people ask questions and others answer them. However it is only one of the many answer sites out there. There are two answer sites in Alexa's top 5.

    2.How do I use it?

There are a couple of ways to leverage the power of Yahoo Answers as well as other answer sites. However the most talked about is simply answering peoples questions.

The site is full of potential traffic and sales. One of the best things about answer sites is that it is easy to get yourself in front of followers of your niche.

3.How can it can it to boost my Traffic?

Like I said above the most popular way is to answer other peoples questions and then either link them to a site (yours) where you got the info from or that has more info on that topic.

There is more to marketing on answer sites that is not really talked about. I have been using these sites for close to a year and they are just getting better.

This is a snapshot of my analytics traffic source results. This is one day worth of traffic, from one site. As you can see, third on the list is Yahoo Answers
