EzineArticles observation

I just noticed this at ezinearticles.

If you take a look at the most viewed articles in the last 90 days, and compare it to the recently submitted articles.

I see a common trend is that the headlines/titles are 50 - 100 % longer on the most viewed than the last submitted one.

There are exeptions, but from the few tests I have done right now this seems to be the trend. The reason for this is probably that when the new article has its few first glory days in the Google, it is available for more keywords, and will get more views.

Being featured in the most viewed articles will then give backlinks and a chanse to maintain good rankings.

From now on I will be writing articles targeting more keywords with longer headlines.

I do not think this is necessarily the case. It really depends on the keywords you use and the competition for those keywords. Keep in mind that a lot of the "Most Viewed" articles are manipulated.

Right. One could go outsource 1000 visitors a day if they paid for it.

As it stands now, there really is no way to know how many views come from organic (searches) traffic and how much is driven there through other channels.

There are ways to skew the "Most Published" too so I really don't see the point of even looking at any of those numbers.

Actually, any numbers you see on the Internet are not what they seem to be. So anytime your business relies on knowing figures you should always conduct your own tests.

There are also more benefits of targeting more keywords in each article. You will have to build less backlinks since you have one article instead of 3 or 4. You might need more backlinks than you do with only one of the keyword, but way less than the tripple you would have to do for 3 articles.

    Am I missing something?
because, there is a difference between "Most Viewed" and "Recently Submitted"...
You can not compare them, they are completely different things.

About the title: Keyword Rich Titles is always better no matter you are using long or short.
As mentioned above, sometimes most viewed articles are Manipulated.

My thinking is that Recently Submitted articles is the average of what people submit, while most viewed is the articles that stick. Of course there are long headlines in the recently submitted as well.

That makes total sense to me Alex. Getting on the most viewed list just means that - it is viewed the most. That does not mean that you have a successful article. Like Matt said, if you wanted to get onto that list all one really needs to do is pay for the traffic. If you are paying for the traffic, it is probably not all that targeted and your conversion will be really low.

I always look at what I have done and what I have seen other people do with in the way of a good converting article. If someone shows me that their article converts at 30% and they have 5000 views on it, ya, I am going to see what it is that they did. This way I can learn from what is working and what is driving traffic.

    Just my feelings though.

Articles writers beware of PLR articles. No matter what the site says the articles are not exclusive so you will not be able to use it on its own. Rather than changing the article to be different by 50% it is easier write a new article.

I try to optimize for my articles for 5,000 searches, however many keywords I need to do that (usually one or two). If all the backlinking work is the same, might as well have to do less of it :-) . I stopped caring about the most viewed a long time ago, people send their email lists there, their twitter followers, etc. Then, everyone under the sun tries to rewrite it to get all the views.... doesn't work.

    Hi MM,

I wanted to reply to your PM, but I couldn't due to my low post count.
I don't have a list of article directories which accept foreign articles. But I have some thoughts on the subject.

    First thing:
Try to search for the keyword "dansk", "svensk", "norsk" or other words in those languages. I have tried that on GoArticles, and I got some hits. So it's absolutely possible to get foreign articles into GoArticles.

Second, thing, which I hope you'll do:
Write a good article. Spin it (if you have not spun before then you can see the thread I made where there are some good suggestions for spinning software). Spin the article into several hundred articles. If you are scared that they'll be labeled as "spam", then chose a link to a site which is not important to you.

What you do next is to find a cheap article submission service which gives you a detailed report after the submission is done. In that report you will have a list of those who have accepted it, and thereby a list of directories which accepts (at least sometimes) foreign language.

Here is a example of a company which submits articles and gives a detailed report:
    key2seo . com/article-submission-service.html

I am sure you can find plenty of people at this forum also which does that.

I hope you can do that. I hope you can go for the largest package (so that you'll get a long list of those who accepts the foreign articles). And I hope you can send me a PM after it's been done.

There is some value and getting on the most viewed list, but you need to do it playing by the rules. Of course you can manipulate articles and get them to the top of the most viewed list, but ezinearticles.com is already onto this and before long they are probably going to change the "most viewed" format all together.

Always play by the rules and you will come out better in the long run. Many of the people who have been wildly successful with article marketing have done it the right way, and this is how I think everyone should conduct their business.
