HELP: Just Hired VA and Need To Know How To Handle the Legal Paperwork??

I just hired a virtual assistant that will work in another country and was wondering if anyone knew how I should handle paying them so that I can use it as a legitimate business expense here in the U.S.? I think I got an email from Mike Filsaime in the last couple months about a free site he has on how to handle this but now I can't find it anywhere.

There was also something going around in the last year by a female attorney on how to handle this so your VA won't end up owning the rights to the content they create for you (YIKES!) --- and I can't find that too!

Any ideas and/or leads will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

I think the thing you got from Mike was:

    https://paypeopleonline.com/

As for the VA Attorney thing, I have not clue, I didn't get that memo.

Hey thanks, that was it! Now if I can just find that information about what kind of paperwork you need to have your employee's / virtual assistants fill out so they can't claim ownership of your content...

      Thanks again.

I don't understand, why not just pay them with paypal/credit card, and show it as normal business expense.. if you pay them more than around $600 you need to file 1099, and in this case, they are foreign, you can put 999-99-9999 I believe.. here is what you are looking for

U.S. Tax Rules Applicable to Foreign Nationals

You need to withheld more for non-resident alien..

if it is a work for hire, they will never own anything within the work scope.. that can be spelled out in the contract.
