Did you see that GoToWebinar increased there prices ->

GoToWebinar Pricing | GoToWebinar

Now it's (up to 100 $99 and 1000 people $499 PER MONTH)

From what I gathered this is for only New clients - Existing clients stay Grandfathered in...

Here are things people are looking into as an alternative:

- Adobe Connect Pro -up to 100 participants for as little as US$45 per month.
- DimDim - 1000 attendees for $75 a month
- Ustream - Unsure
- Camtwist - Unsure
- HotConference.com - 5 rooms with 500 seats for just $59.99 a month

Personally, I still have an account so the price hike doesn't affect me.

But, I thought it would be good to let everyone know and give you
some alternatives if you are looking to do your first Webinar. :-)

P.S. If you had an account and let it expire - I have no idea if you are affected!

Thanks for the info, Matt. I have GoToMeeting, not GTW, but may have to occasionally get something with more seats. Thanks for the list of less expensive alternatives.

Darn I was just about to start holding more webinars. Since I only hold them every few months it was hard to justify the $100/month but $399-499 puts over the top for me.

I let mine expire since I only held a webinar every few months. Now if I want to join it's at the new prices

Thanks Matt. I've attended several DimDim conferences in the past, and I think they're shaping up to be a solid contender to GotoWebinar. They may just price themselves out of the market by elevating their prices so egregiously.

    Hi Matt,

Wow that is amazing. There are a few good alternatives Dim Dim being one I think another is called powow I think also joel therriens site gvo has a whole setup like that with a free office for 30 days or something. I don't recall exactly.

Quite something to see this kind of a hike I wonder how many people they will lose over it or maybe that is the idea

It's sad that they are raising their prices but still I think that their service is amazing or rather better than most of the players in the online conferencing industry.

Ya they are actually pretty good. Unfortunately, if you pass
1000 it's real hard to find a good solution out there.

They know they are temporary, it's on a short amount of time before they are replaced. Might as well squeeze out everything they can and move on.

I just received an email from David Thomas regarding the price hike for GoToWebinar.

He tells more about this situation and includes a link where you can still sign up until the end of the month at the original price for up to 1000 attendees on his blog post at:
GoToWebinar price hike | David John Thomas

He also tells about his experience using DimDim.com as a lower cost alternative (he was not impressed).

      Hope this helps

    That's a steep increase.

Thanks for the heads up on this Matt!

If you signed up for a trail before the price increased you'll be able to get
      the 99.00 per 1,000 deal.

The link you clicked on is only for 45 day trail not 30 and
      not at 99 a month.

Another Marketer is out and about today saying the same thing and the
people signing up under his link are in for a wake up call come billing day.

Dave's Blog does say "I think you get a 45-day free trial as well. But I can't provide any guarantees that this information is accurate. "

      Craig
Wow, that's scary. Sounds like there's different offers depending on which referral link you click on.

I joined earlier today through the link on David's blog and got the 45 day trial. The control panel says 1000 attendees for $99/month but the options to change plans show the new pricing.

I just got off the phone with gotowebinar and they told me I got the old pricing plan which will stay in place after my 45 day trial ends.

      Take care,

      Mike

      Hey Craig,

Are you SURE you were talking to the right people? 30 minutes for bad info? Shame on somebody...

The price went up already and I just used the special link to sign up for the trial.

You do get a 45 day trial and you DO get the $99/1000 rate. Attached is the proof:

I'm really wondering how many extra orders they are getting this month with this price hike in place, and how long the price will be hiked.

It's obvious people are rushing to sign up for a $99/month continuity program, when under normal circumstance that is a difficult thing to get people to do.

            Hmmmmm.....makes you wonder.

If I see a gtw sale soon at the old pricing....it will all come into focus.

Don't complain about the increase if you have over 1000 people, lol. If you're putting over 1000 people on a single call you should be able to afford it... if not, you need a little work on your close.

    Thanks for the info Matt.

    GoToWebinar is super-overrated.

I remember having to run camtasia in the background to ensure I got a working recording of webinars I did for my coaching program because GTW's built in replay
    file producer crashed a lot.

It was a crap shoot. I ended up doing a few extra webinars bc of them.

Not sure if they actually fixed that, but still not worth $499.

UNLESS you do webinars all the time and can justify the cost with the revenue
    that is generated from them.

Quick question, since we are on the subject.

Has anyone used this? How well does it work?

Can this do everything GTW does? Or am I wrong in thinking this may be the future of webinars?

Well, all I can say is man's greatest invention is the deadline.

I'm sure they've researched their price increase and made an educated decision, and they will no doubt be making more money.

By offering a deadline before which anyone who joins now (ie new revenue) gets grandfathered in at the old price, and will be scared to leave because they might 'lose out' on the good price.... well I can tell you they must have just picked up a boat load of new accounts.

As for them pricing themselves out of the market, if they're smart and continue serving existing clients well, I'm sure they will do just fine despite their prices. You gotta remember many of these guys are pulling in tens of thousands per webinar - GTW knows that and just want a slice of the pie.

Hey, that "special link" seems to still be up and working...

Has anyone signed up since today (3/1) and gotten the $99/1000 grandfather deal?

Maybe Citrix is testing the scarcity model. I agree with Floyd that the new pricing gives them lots of room to have tremendous short term promotions...

But for scarcity to work well, it helps if you turn off the offer when you say you will...

Apparently the new pricing structure is tied to the release of their newest training product. That's what they told me when I called to find out what had happened. I'm glad I was able to reactivate my dormant account and remain on the $99/1000 plan -- phew! Like someone else said above ... I never worked so damn hard to give someone my money - LOL

I have an account at $99 a month that I got for a series but now I am not really using it. I am torn because I don't want to pay this but I think I would definitely like to use it in the future. So I'm leaning toward canning it.

    Anybody want it?
