Where can I get photographs of famous people?

Hi, I would like to get photographs of famous people and put it on my blog. I want to make a biography project. Although there are many pictures on Google Images, I don't want to steal.

Is there a website where I can put images on my blog without permission? For example, can you help me by telling me how I can get pictures of famous people like Mother Teresa or Ghandi?

No charge? I thought you said you paid them $20 each to pose with you.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Most of the images here are for free use. Make sure you check the license for each though.

    Wikimedia Commons

Here's a short blurb on the licensing for images.

What I do on my rock and roll blog is use YouTube videos.

I think it's a good solution as I am only embedding YouTube's code and not actually posting an image, per se.

You can get a better idea of what I mean at Rock and Roll Decades (this is a labor of love type blog, and not an ad).

On the other hand, I'm not sure how you can work that into the type of site you're talking about, but I wanted to share the tip.

    All the best,
    Michael

    LOL.

You can get some decent images from Stock Photography: Download Free Stock Photos & Royalty Free Images. Just type in the celebrity's name (i.e Will Smith) and if they're known enough you should get some results. Good luck

I agree with Flickr. It is entirely free and you get more search results with famous people. Don't try just getting photos from Google because you are most likely to get caught.

Correct. A lady on another board mentioned how she used a few pics from GettyImages for her site. The repercussions were severe when she was caught. Stay away from places like Getty if you don't plan on purchasing rights.

Usually it's the tabloids which take pics of celebrities and the images are obviously copyrighted. You'd have to pay a fee to use those images unless you take the pics yourself.

Not the best solution, but if you sign up for one of the poster affiliate companies, such as art.com, you can use the images of the posters they have on your site. They have tons of celebrity photos there and and I believe you can customize the affiliate code they provide to remove the buy now text so only the image appears. I learned this trick from Squidoo. For an example of what I'm talking about, visit this lens High School Musical 3 Movie and scroll down to the bottom, you'll see photos of some of the stars of the movie that are from the art.com affiliate program.
