Help Naming Local News Blog

As a project I am starting a local news site, but i am having a dang hard time coming up with a name.

The site is going to compete directly with the newspaper, I have worked in journalism before as a photographer (for the local paper) and have experience writing news style posts.

I am concerned with the general public, the town has two names spelled differently, so i have to buy both of them, no problem but I need some help.

Any ideas or input on these (I provided a poll on top if you want to vote and help me out).

Here are the ones I am considering, it's a general news blog, any input?

    I like "blurb" myself, but like dvduval said, it may not be the best choice if you're trying to create a professional image. However, "blurb" stands out the most, whereas the others are just kind of generic and plain vanilla.

      Journal sounds the most professional to me, blurb the least professional.

      Depends on what kind of readers you want attract. Make the title match their values. More conservative? Hip and trendy? Internet geeks?

      Also consider: do you really compete with the local newspaper, or could you maybe put your site in a different category? The idea being that you don't have to compete with the established newspaper.

      I don't know about your town and its newspaper, but in any town I know, competing with the established local newspaper is a pretty tough business. The newspaper sits on the #1 spot in your townspeople's mind for decades probably. No way you're going to erase that.

      Rather find a USP and create a new category for yourself and your site.

    I think out of all the above options blog is better and my reason is simply because it looks like the easiest to spell
