Where Internet Marketing Will Be Trending In Next 12 Months?

Look how crazy the last 2 years have been. Below is snap shot of where I see it going, would like to hear you this Forum has to say as well?

I see a transition from Search Marketing (SEM) to Filtering (any kind of tool) that feeds us with (realtime) information instead of giving us information based upon queries.

Social Media Marketing and Search will increase and those who don't learn how to monetize this will fail.

Mobile Marketing is going to be at the core of strategies, it's connectivity aspect will make this device really important. I use my Google G1 Droid phone more than my laptop at times, also look at the success of the iPhone and all the applications.

Social Media marketing will definitely be increasing. It's changing the way we reach buyers.

iPhone apps...holy crap, what a money maker. I have always enjoyed coding as a hobby. I plan on getting into iPhone app creation soon. A simple game can make you thousands.

Work on Twitter started on March 21, 2006.

If you had asked this question on Jan 1 of that year, do you think anybody
would have had a clue that this social media would have ever existed in
      this form?

Truth is, nobody can possibly know for sure where IM is going because
things are changing all the time.

However, those who are on the cutting edge of making those changes
      potentially can profit big time.

I say potentially because look at all the big sites that are losing money
      still.

Don't forget Facebook games. I'm sure Farmville makes $2000/day, at LEAST.

Farmville makes way more than just 2k a day. They should be near the million dollar mark a month.

Well said.. social and media marketing is indeed on the rise.

Look at the old days, it would be pretty hard to find a minisite/ salespage without long copy with thousands of words promoting the owner's product..

But fast forward to today, many product owners are startting to promote their products with just video on the salespage, a few words and paragraphs, and then the order button. and they still do very well...

social and media marketing is indeed cathching up, and its necessary to pick up these skills to survive in the upcoming IM world..

I agree with all the comments I think more people will be turning to social media websites such as Facebook. Its cheaper to advertise than Google, and even more targeted traffic. Should be cool to see how the battle between these 2 Titans plays out!

  • Businesses and professionals that learn how to use and leverage social media for marketing and brand building will thrive in the coming months and years. We will see a shift from traditional online advertising as the source to reach customers to proactive / real-time social marketing and promotional methods.

I'm hoping that 3D video comes to our computer screens. I have a big nose and it's been useless for anything other than smelling things so far, but when 3D video hits the Internet I'll be able to waggle it around at people to entertain them - I'll make loads of money from people clicking away on my ads

    Augmented reality.

Trust me. I was right about Flash in '98, I was right about RSS in 2004 and I'm right about augmented reality now.

Or I was just lucky. Either way that's where I'm heading..

What applications do you see for that in IM?

I think it's going to help bridge the gap between the offline version and online version of businesses.

This is already being done on a small scale but it's going to grow and grow..

But imagine this for example.. you arrive in a new city and decide to go for a meal, you see a street full of restaurants and are unsure which is best so you point your phone at them, on your screen up pops an icon over each one, it tells you if any tables are free, shows their Tripadvisor (or other sites) rating, read customer reviews, lets you view the menu, view their site etc

    EDIT

Just found this Youtube clip for you

I think filtering will be critical in the future. The noise to signal ratio on Twitter is starting to overwhelm. Social media will play a critical role as a search factor in the future as well.

Social media marketing is definately trending, but it's different. It's the replacement to brand influence marketing's use of traditional media.

Search is still going to be the largest direct marketing driver because it indicates the highest level of immediate psychological intent and interest.
