Anyone good with wordpress?

Anyone know how to get your posts on the home page to be displayed on separate pages, besides actually creating separate pages? I just want to make it so the home page only has one post, instead of every post i have. Thanks in advance? Sorry If wrong place to post.

Go to the dashboard then Settings/Reading. Where it says "Blog pages show at most" change it to 1 then save.

If you always want the same homepage, rather than have the latest post all the time, just create a "Page" and then set it to display on your front page in Settings > Reading.

Yeah I actually just created a sticky, so my main post always shows on top. Thats a very good tip though, wish i would have known that before.

Excellent, thanks guys. Do you know if this affects SERP's. Like I rank for certain keywords, and the url it links to is my home page. If i change this to one page only, will i lose these positions? Or will the new pages be ranked separately?

As long as the theme you are using is showing your categories and archives and you also have an XML sitemap, then the search engines will still be able to find your latest posts, even though the homepage won't change.

I tried to send a PM but I don't have 50 posts yet.

If you send me your email in a PM, I can hit you back with an email.

Use the software that you download from wordpress.ORG - and host it on your own server.

The free blogs on wordpress.COM - are not good for commercials purposes. They will delete any 'marketing' blog.

  • You should choose to use some other CMS.

The beauty of using WordPress is it allows you to keep current. Who wants to go to a site where the homepage never changes?

Visit it once and you'll never come back. Look at any successful blogger and you'll never find the same content on the homepage for very long. That is the strength of WordPress.

There are some great CMS Templates for WordPress... find one.
