I'm still using Michael Fortin's Clean Copy.

Very Clean and simple as long as you don't want 3 columns and too much complication.

I'm a Thesis fan - use it on all my WordPress sites.

Plus there are lots of theme sites at the bottom of this article:

      Atahualpa WP theme.

If you are generally comfortable with WP , this theme will totally blow your mind because you can clone any WP theme with all the builtin config options.

I must admit, I found it a bit weird in the start but have really grown to love it because it definitely has this whole new dimension and is unlike any other theme i used before.

I'm a Thesis fan, but have also used Atahualpa, though I haven't played around with it too much. Can you add some links to some different Atahualpa sites you've created so that I can see the variety possible?

Would really appreciate it if you don't mind sharing...

        Thanks,

        Becky

Apart from the semi-psycodelich backdrop, thanks for that Troy, nice and simple.

Too many people grossly underestimate the importance of simplicity and no distractions.

For me, I'm currently liking iNove for a free theme and I'm thinking of trying out flexxtheme for it's layout possibilities.

My problem with most wp themes is the obsession to take up 50% of the top half of the fold with the header. When will people learn!

I like Artisteer, too. Because I can make all the sites look different, but the back end is the same. So I only have to learn how to find my way around one theme.

I'm really liking the Headway Theme. It's been great for me. My current site is on Headway and I have very little html experience, but I had to use NONE. That is NO html at all for my current site. And it was pretty cool to work with. In fact when I did have a problem (it was a problem because the first version didn't mesh well with GoDaddy and so I changed to Hostgator) I actually had the Headway founder send me a message telling me who to talk to to get my site fixed. I was impressed with that since right in the middle of my two-hour nightmare the founder shows up on my site telling me who to talk to and then about 20 minutes later I had the answer to my problem.

Other than that is has been easy to use and I just bought the developer license.

I use the Woo-themes on most of my blogs (some paid, some free), then I have my own created themes with Artisteer and some PLR themes i got through a WSO here. Flexibility2 is great too, thinking of getting Flexsqueeze when I have some extra cash. And for site that I sell I usually use Studiopress themes.

Not a specific theme but I like theme by Woo-themes and Studiopress. I guess a big plus with them is the support if needed and they also updates the themes for new versions of WP.

though I have created some of my own themes with the help of tutorials from Urban Giraffe, I'm the first to admire and support other developers in the open source community. Many WordPress theme and plugin developers provide great free stuff and giving them credit is the least we can do for them.

Many of the developers release paid themes and plugins but started out by giving away a lot of freebies to the community. But, that is one of the most viral methods to get lots of backlinks and ultimately traffic! I should know.

Anyway, lately I've been working on a project and I'm using a really nice free magazine-style WordPress theme called Mimbo. It's very easy to customize, I find, and it's very clean...codewise...ok...sorry, I'm a geek when it comes to clean code...but check it out...the developer's name is Darren Hoyt.

I've worked on clients' blogs who had Thesis, Woo themes, etc., installed. And yeah, they are nice. But if you need to save some money when you're just starting out, I recommend that you start with a very clean, simple and free theme. Somone mentioned Athahaulpa. Yes, that is a really nice theme!

Another vote for Atahualpa here. It's totally customisable, allows for 0 - 4 sidebars, plain background or graphic background, with or without a header image. You can add extra widget areas.

Finally - I recently found a bit of css code on their forum which allows you to customise the bullets in the sidebar widgets.

I have tried several including Flexability, Semiologic and lately Thesis. the more I use Thesis the more I really love the Flexability that it provides with website design and SEO Benefits. While Semiologic provides similar SEO benefits as Thesis the ease of changing the site design with Thesis is what has won me over to Using Thesis on all of my new blogs. I currently use Thesis with the Cutline plus Skin.

I have got two favourites but I can't remember what they are called now. I will go and look and report back,

EDIT: Ok I'm back. Faves are Flexibility and Producer.

Just as an aside and (its not monetised so I am not spamming) I found this one which was perfect for an extra feed blog to support a site of mine. The photo of mine just looks great in the header:

    http://paleochora.adto.me/

The theme is called Fjords. I can't think where else I would use it but I love it for that page.
