Product Integrity in Affiliate Marketing

Hey everybody, new here.

Affiliate marketing with digital products is a corrupt system. Its great that anybody can sign up and make money with no formal training, and its great that anyone can create a product and sell it on a marketplace, but what about the people who actually buy the product?

Vendors set their commissions at 75% because of no production costs, affiliates then have huge incentive to promote the product because of the profit potential, but then what about the consumer? What incentive does the Vendor have to give the consumer truly valuable information? It seems to me like their only goal is to set up the product in a way to reduce refunds. And through my experience, this is NOT done by giving quality content, but through other sneakier ways, like time-releasing content, giving the user a LOT of content that lacks integrity, making the user feel that its something they have to learn over a very long time, or by setting up the product to make the user feel like its their fault the system doesn't work for them.

What are your thoughts about this?

I have experience in the brokerage business; years ago. That deals with peoples entire life savings and I saw nothing different there than here. Brokers would put someones entire retirement fund in an inappropriate investment if it helped win them a trip to Lake Tahoe.

Have you seen the corrupt goings on of late with Goldman Sucks (otherwise known as Goldman Sachs), the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Treasury?

    I won't even mention lawyers.

Buyer beware. If people want to be stupid all their life and run around with there iPod stuck in their ears believing everything they are told then they will continuously be separated from their limited cash.

Not that that is right; just the way it is.

I feel it's up to me to hold me accountable to a higher standard, knowing I will one day be judged by the only One who matters.

    Regards,
    PCRoger.

First of all, I think it's important to differentiate affiliate marketing and information marketing. Affiliate marketing is too broad of a term. I can be an affiliate for quality physical products as well.

    You're referring to information marketing.

There is certainly a lot of junk out there in the information marketing world. There's no doubt about that. Vendors and promoters who are trying to make a quick $$ by capitalizing on a hot market or niche and that's unfortunate, but there will always be people like that (in ANY industry...not just info marketing). Not much you can do about it. And really, those types of people won't be in business very long.

Thing is...you don't have to be one of those people. You can build a business around quality, valuable products or services. It's a much better long term business plan.

As frustrating as it can be, you can't worry too much about it because they will always be there no matter what business you're in.

    Just my $0.02!

Quality is relative a lot of people are fine with sub standard information and they will buy more then one ebook. I think selling a good quality product is the way to keep customers long term but I wouldn't lose too much sleep over marketing products of a lesser degree of quality.

I agree there are 10,000 plus products to promote just on Clickbank alone there is a lot of low quality products, but there is also a lot of valuable info through a lot of their products. You just need to do your research to seperate the winners from the losers.

At least their is a 60 day return policy to protect the customer if the product they buy is not up to par! They do all the can to bring you a quality product. Just make sure you do your research on a product before investing your hard earned money on it. Whether it be a physical, or informational product!

And how CAN you do the proper research? Affiliates saturate all keywords about product reviews, so how can you trust them?

Yeah, I'm referring specifically to digital goods, because of how cheap it is to keep a product running after you create it, allowing for ridiculous commission percentages that would simply be impossible for physical product vendors to afford or have be profitable.
