I am not going to bed until I get one good quality link...

I'm trying to learn how the whole links game works. I keep hearing i need high quality links (relevant, high PR, and dofollow) from some folks, and from others they say this does not matter.

Well, I've learnt so far to always focus on quality. So I'm trying to find one good link before I go to bed here. It's already past midnight. Anybody got any suggestions?

    Are you serious?
I told you in your other hread that I would give you 100 free links with dofollow and PR and niche targeted and still you are posting about one link?

Hmm, so I should stop then.
Seems you think I can't deliver a FREE gift.
Looks like I will have to stop giving away free stuff

    Hehehe
    Fine by me.

    Good luck!

Awesome, so tired! 1.12am.. mission accomplished. Did you PM me those links? I see nothing in my inbox. Definitely will give you them a good review tomorrow after a nice peaceful sleep if you can shoot them through.

    Thanks!

Blog comments can be a little tricky. Make sure you're keeping a legitimate name and not something like "Lose Weight Fast". Anything with a keyword for a name will get deleted assuming the owner hasn't abandoned the blog.

Another trick I've read about was hyperlinking a smiley to keep the link hidden.

        For example: "Great post (URL="yoursite.com")(/URL)!"

Obviously, make your post more meaningful than that. Nothing's worse than a generic, spammy comment that required no thought. Read the article, and give some original feedback.

    Thanks for the reply sour.

I really want to do this properly. My goal is to develop relationships with other travel bloggers, but I thought I would do this strategically (i.e. high PR, and dofollow links).

However, this is seeming very difficult!

      No it isn't.
The reason why it has been taken off is because you were in a hurry!
You wanted one link while in another thread you aksed for 100.
I wanted to help you there for free, but you couldn't wait 15 minutes for me to get your 100 doffolow links so you started this thread.

Like I said, then you just get one link, fine by me.
In that comment I was short and fast because you wanted that and that is where 99% of the people FAIL!

      WRONG!

Just read the post and comment on that with a good reply and then link back. If you do that you will be in the top 1% of the link builders.

      Quality is everything NOT quantity.

      regards,

Thanks for the feedback Mike, and I apologise if things came across the wrong way. I had set time last evening to build links and I was very frustrated after spending several hours of not adding one further link on to my site. So in desperation I posted a link to just add one.

I don't believe I ever implied that I wasn't interested in 100+ links over the short term, I just wanted 1 link before going to bed so I felt like I had accomplished something for that night. I'm sure we all do irrational things when the midnight oil starts to burn.

So, I am still very interested in this 100 list. And I promise if you do supply it to me I will be very thorough with it and give you proper feedback.

In relation to the one link you gave me, I definitely agree it was a quality link . I thought I did make a post to the blog posting that was not rubbish, yet it was not approved (maybe later?). I really get the feeling this posting is not accepting any new comments. My common sense tells me that after 15+ months there would have been at least one decent post on this page.

Why don't you start offering to write a guest post for them in exchange for a link? Or to write about a travel destination for them, in exchange for a link.

Offer them something of value, and they will be more willing. Offer them a simple comment in their blog, and they will probably just see it as an attempt to redirect their traffic.

Write articles about travel destinations, choosing well researched keywords, and post them in article directories, leading back to your own site for more information. Create a short video of a travel destination, and put it on YouTube with a link to your site.

The High PR sounds like it is your biggest problem, so you will definitely need to offer something of value for those links. They want to preserve the strength of their PR, and not bleed it out to competitors for no benefit. So, what is your return benefit to them?

Here's another idea, which could grab you the link and traffic. Ask them if they would be willing to do a Skype interview with you. You can ask questions about recent travel they have been on, and put an MP3 of the call on your site, and offer it to them, also. (Of course in exchange for the link.) This gives you content you can distribute other places.

You are adding value to your site, and theirs.

Just some ideas to ponder. You might not have made the link before sleeping, but you can start putting together a plan for successful relationships, and have taken action before you sleep.

Thanks for the feedback, I think I will spend some time trying to write guest posts. Do you think the best way to get in touch with these guys is just looking for a contact link on their website?

Try to contact them through their blog first. You can also look up the contact information for them by doing a whois lookup on their domain name. (Unless they have it hidden.)

I like to use Domain White Pages - domainwhitepages.com to do my look ups.

It's just frustrating, and maybe as a beginner to both this forum and IM in general I have gone about it in the wrong way. But I have a set amount of time each day for this, and I just want to get into the routine of spending x amount of time on something that produces results. I know a big part of it is experimentation, but I'd like to contribute to some good blogs 30 minutes a day, everyday... but i just can't find the right blogs to do this on. Been looking for weeks now!

Do you have Market Samurai? If not, grab a trial copy of it.

Go into the Promotion Module after you setup some keyword phrases you are targeting. It will help you locate appropriate blogs for posting comments in. It also lets you search for forums to post on, web 2.0 sites, and tells you their PR, if it is Follow links, etc.

Dont worry mate. In my experience, you gotta try a little bit of everything. You'll find the rut that you slot into. For me, it was offering minisite design and doing offline marketing.

Oh, and you want a good link?

that's how you get one - this forum is PR4 - use your signature. Thats a backlink EVERY post.
