What's with this video sales letters trend?

More and more often i stumble across sales pages that have nothing on them but videos.

Is this a new trend of wasting your visitors time telling what you can tell in 100 words in a 20 minute video ?

I would understand if, at least, those sales pages would have a resume of what they sell in WORDS, so i can read what's all about in 1 minute not wasting 15 minutes on a poor loading video (at least put it on youtube so i can watch it faster).

More than that, do this guys make any sales with just a slow loading video on a page ?

    Hi!

How's your internet connection? When I had a high-end connection I rarely had to wait for vids to load. Now I have a crappy one again I always have to wait. It sure makes life on the web a pain!

I think it's got a lot to do with SEO and Quality Score in adwords.

Or at least that's why I use video sales letters! lol

Mine are always short and to the point though, ENTER INFO HERE, CLICK HERE, BUY NOW ect.

It's a way of increasing your click conversion.

If you drive everyone away before the "add to cart" button shows up, the only people who click on it are REALLY SERIOUS about buying.

They are doing it because a few of the Guru's have told everyone it converts better.

Now, this may very well be true, but there is no reason you cannot offer an alternative text page. You could at least give a link under the video for an alternative page.

If you are pondering whether you should do this for yourself, do a split test, and see which converts for your market. You will never know any other way.

I just close the browser. Live in the country and have a crap connection so can't be bothered trying to load videos. If you can't write some words on your sales page, you've lost me.

Apparently the pageowner made a mistake directing you there (unless you stumbled on it).

I wouldn't create a video-only page if the traffic consists of anonymous people who may or may not interested in what I am to offer.
People can skip in a matter of seconds without getting any idea whatsoever what I am to offer them.

But, if the video page was part of -say- an anticipition building process in the pre-launch of a big ticket product offering... and if the link to it was shared with a list of members waiting for the lauch to happen... THEN you would want those already-somewhat-excited people to ONLY watch the video because that is your opportunity to get them more involved in the story (so you get them on the early-bird list for instance). An available summary could spoil or postpone the likeliness of a conversion.

I think some people are misusing the video-only salespage...
