Buzzle's New Rules - Not Good For IM'ers

I've just logged into my Buzzle account and noticed their new rules which did not make for pleasant reading.

Basically you're allowed to include 1 external link for each article and this link must be added using the Links feature so it's unlikely to get many clicks. You cannot include a resource box and each article must be completely unique and not found anywhere else.

Just when I thought Buzzle was starting to compete with EzineArticles it goes and changes their rules and not for the better either.

Wow, this is a little disturbing, but pleasant at the same time.

We're starting to see "top" article directories start fumbling around and changing the same rules that got them where they are in the first place.

    If it ain't broke....

Every day I check the obituaries. If I don't see my name there, then I know it's going to be a good day!

I have ever used Buzzle. After reading this, I think I'll hold off a while longer too.

Damn that has to suck. So with both the two best taking a dive (EZA and Buzzle) which one do you think is the next best thing SEO wise?

Chris, any ideas on good SERP ranking article directories?

Isn't ArticlesBase nofollow on their links?

Yes it is, but I asked him for search engine ranking of the actual articles, not for backlinking purposes.

So EZA, Buzzle and Base all have issues.

            Tsk tsk tsk.

It's a shame they all have to do something that ticks off their clientele. Well, there are others...and they're free.

I've used article base in the past, but....It is kind of a pain in the ass to find the link to click on. Their article pages are just ugly and gooped up with more adsense ads than I can count.

It's killing me, it really is.

Really, though. I do have a problem because a lot of people think that these "top" directories are the same as all the other directories out there.

There is another thread going right now about how someone wants to create an article directory with the IMer in mind. Well, the thing is that there are already a ton of them...and most are right there in front of us.

But since people like to generalize, they automatically think that the "big boys" are the same as everyone else...or more like, everyone else is like the "big boys."

That's why I got so upset with Chris the other day. He should have prefaced his comments with the fact that he was talking about HIS clients and HIS traffic stats...or at least said that this was from HIS experience.

I speak to AD owners every single day (except Sundays) and it is really hard to get the right mixture of client happiness, search engine love and non-vomit submissions. But it is possible and it does happen.

There are many different ones out there, and they're all free except for one that I know of. You just have to get off your ass, do some work and find them!

I'm not saying EZA, Buzzle or Base are not worth submitting to. But there is a theme being laid out here and we need to find out why, otherwise we will continue with our random generalizations.

                Sorry for the rant.

I logged into Buzzle the other day to post an article and as soon as I read the new terms I closed the window. Never again.

I once made the mistake of using the linking feature for my links instead of putting them in the last paragraph of my article. They ended up being separated from my article by about tw inches of Google Adsense ads. Nasty. and No thanks!

That is not good. With that said though they won't be hit with has much spam, and getting a few backlinks from them can't hurt. It may help improve their image and backlink quality in the eyes of the search engines. Just a thought though.
