5 Things That Have Helped My Business
I actually was able to quit my full time job the other day with no worries at all. This my friends was a huge accomplishment in my mind. I had tears in my eyes when I told my boss to #$*& off....lol, I didn't say it like that but I was thinking it.
Here are a few points that I've kept in my head the whole way through. I feel they have really helped my mindset stay focused towards becoming an entrepreneur.
You don't have to have a 9-5 job to retire.
This is obviously in most of the readers heads here. There are so many people that take the "safe road" with a career working 8 hours a day. Doing the same monotinous activity day in and day out. You don't have to work for a corporation to be happy financially. That's something I made sure to know early in my journey to owning my own business.
I have too many friends that are in their late 20's that look like stress has beaten them down. The corporate world can be stressful.
Cut out the meaningless work.
Just because you are keeping yourself busy for 8 hours a day doesn't mean you are doing things right. Everyone of us is guilty of doing something meaningless everyday. How many times do you check your email? How many times do you come to this forum (I'm guilty of this one)?
We want to fill our day with productive activities. Just because we are doing less in a day doesn't make us lazy.
Throw away your doubts
You can have a million excuses why you didn't jump into your own business or take the plunge. Doubts only lead to procrastination. You have to remember, the timing is never going to be right. In my example, there was never a "good" time to quit my job. I went from having full benefits and a paycheck every two weeks to who knows when I will get paid. I have a good system set up but there's no guarantee right now.
You have to take the plunge to see if anything is going to work though.
Money alone is not the answer
If you are doing this strictly for the money, I would suggest stopping. If you're doing anything just for the money, I would suggest stopping. You can't make your career about money. You will never last. I am very driven by large amounts of money, but I wouldn't of chosen the path I did unless it was something I enjoy doing.
I love waking up in the morning when I want. Right when I wake up, I get to work. I don't have to force myself to do this. It's because I love to do it. I like to make products and teach people. It's fun to share my knowledge. It just happens that this business is very fruitful.
Choose something you like to do and you will be happy.
Do what you're good at
Everyone has a skill or trait that shines for them. Everyone has weaknesses as well. Take advantage of what you know. Emphasize your strengths throughout your life and stop trying to fix your weaknesses. There are others out there that are strong in areas you are not. Find them and use them.
I hope you all get your business to where you want it to be.
